President Muhammadu Buhari has named a new head for the State Security Service (SSS).

The new director-general is Yusuf Magaji Bichi, Mr Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said in a statement.

The new head replaces Matthew Seiyeifa, who has been operating in acting capacity since Lawal Daura was dismissed.

Read Mr Shehu’s full statement below.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved with effect from the 14th of September, the appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi, as new Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS, popularly called DSS).

The obvious. What Johnathan didn't have balls to do. A non northerner wouldn't be allowed to run the SsS into the 2019 elections. Not surprising. I fear for 2019 though.

One day, our country will get to that state where a president can appoint someone not from his tribe and religion as head of DSS and go to sleep comfortably.

Obasanjo, Yar'adua, Jonathan and now Buhari all wasted no time by quickly removing the head of the intelligence agency and replacing them with someone from their region. We must find a way to end the natural mutual suspicion that exist among us if we are to evolve into nationhood.

This gworo chewing hunger-induced lepa guy is truly an unrepentant bigot ooo...

See where GEJ's indiscretion and Tinubu's hunger/greed for power has landed us.

What a shame...

I'm 100% sure that the only reason why Tinubu is supporting Buhari is cos of power shift to the Southwest in 2023. Buhari is just plainly pathetic and Nepotistic. He can't even hide it anymore. He could have just allowed the Bayelsa man see out his few months left in service. This Buhari has bad advisers. He's so so behind reality and life

I am not whining but expressing my views on the subject of discussion. Yes, the appointment is not strange but it calls for concern. We need to trust ourselves more than we currently do.

What funny most in buhari government is that, he doesn't allow federal character in appointment positions in all the sector. so so bad. donald trump can't do this act. we can never progress asap country with this behavior. now it shows that he favored his tribe and the north in general in appointment positions. All is well. what i know is that karma will surely back fire.

I Honestly disagree with people who call Gen Buhari lifeless, this is because when it comes to all the wrong things in this world Buhari has some life .
It is only when it has to do with good things and things that will advance humanity and move the nation forward, that the Daura bigot suddenly becomes lifeless.

How else can you explain such ethnocentric behaviour

How can your explain such blatant display of religious bigotry

By his actions Buhari is simply telling every minority serving in the DSS that they are never good enough.

The president of the most ethnically diverse country displaying such crude nepotism is sadddens the soul

Never again will and ethnic mistake such as Gen Buhari be allowed to plunge us into the abyss of shame , disunity and hopelessness.

Retiring Buhari to Daura is a National assignment , So Help us God

God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria
