Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information on Monday said campaigning against President Muhammadu Buhari on religious grounds is not healthy for the country and will backfire if care is not taken.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, Momoh, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) said many churches are asking Christians to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) so they can use it to vote out President Buhari in 2019.

The danger in this according to him is that Imams will also counter the Pastors and ask their members to get their PVCs and counter the votes of the Christians.

He said the Muslims will have the upper hand at the end of the day because it has been proven that Muslims obey their leaders more than Christians do.

“Churches are telling their members to go and get PVC, not because they want them to exercise their rights to vote but to vote against Buhari. Do you know the implication of that? The implication is that the Imams will be telling Muslims to go and register and vote in order to counter Christian campaign. By so doing, they have made the issue a religious affair”.

“Let me tell you this, Muslims are more likely to obey their Imams than Christians will obey their pastors. The Christians are enlightened enough to know what they want”.

“During the time of Nnamdi Azikiwe, the Catholics moved against Zik, yet Zik still won the election. People choose either A or B. They don’t just follow their political leaders because of what they said. They have minds of their own”.

“I am now telling you again, Muslims will follow what the Imams say than Christians will follow what the Pastor says. So, those who are campaigning that Christians should go and register so that they will vote against Buhari are really campaigning for Buhari on religious grounds and it is not healthy”.

“ Let people vote because they believe that you have done something to merit another tenure than trying to manipulate people on religious grounds. It will backfire” he said.

When hunger don wire you well, one man comfortably feeding himself n family will tell you to return ur cause of sorrow to power in the name of being an imam or whatever? Only idiots will blindly do that. As for this man, why is he so shameless?
