Any product you buy brand new lives for months without issues except you put it through the test of class. That is where the big dogs stand out.

Those voting machines are used once in years and dumped. The next election, new ones are acquired. So they are not really put through the test of class which usually sees most of them crashing unnecessarily the way Zinox laptops do.

Lol, something you've never used. A friend of mine got a Zinox mini computer from a student ICT program in Ogun state in 2011, and used said minicomputer until 2014 when he got another PC. STOP TALKING TRASH.

The OEMs that the USA and developed manufacturers buy are based on the product design that these companies have thoroughly and painstakingly worked on. If you're building a house, you buy blocks or mould them yourself, you buy rods, etc based on the design, and then you unleash your powers.

Guess what we have in Nigeria? "I like that car, Mr. OEM car manufacturer, I would love to order 1000 pieces of those. But make sure you dissemble them and not paint them when shipping it. I want to assemble them myself".


Can't these guys be original by getting a good designer? Even if it's a freelancer. There are people with bad ass car designs here in Nigeria.

What we have in Nigeria is basically the same thing as finished goods.

Get the design, do the painstaking research, then hit up the chinese OEM guys. This is what Apple and the rest do. Then when Apple is done with all the originality, a funny company in China will come and copy and put their own logo on Apple's work Then call it "kPhone"

We don't have the tools, but China does. But we have the brains here who can pull off mind boggling designs. Let's design it and give the Chinese guys to build exactly to our designs. We should stop rebranding OEMs. It makes us a mockery to the world. It's better to just be on crude oil and farming than to keep making a global fun of ourselves by doing absolute copy and paste.

Using screwdriver doesn't make you a car manufacturer. The innovation, research amd design makes you one.

You can actually contract a firm via Alibaba to manufacture OEM products (TV,cars,bikes,phones,etc) for you and just label it with a brand name which you can choose by yourself.

IVM ride was exposed as being exactly a carbon copy of another local chinese car some time ago but for the IVM logo.
Guess their defense? That they had an agreement with the company. This is basically Chinese OEM at best.

Until they start doing the design, research, etc, this is trash at best!

We will gradually get to that level when we design and conceptualize our products. This is just one individual trying to do something. In the short run he seem to get all design & research input from china. But I look forward to better auto industry in Nigeria like in SA that even produce OEM and assemble as well.

Members of the House of Representatives Committee on
Local Content have commended Innoson Vehicle
Manufacturing Limited for the high level of local input in
the vehicles made at its plant in Nnewi, Anambra state.
The lawmakers who were at the plant located in Uru
village, Nnewi, for an on-the-spot assessment of the
vehicle production process and verification of the level of
the local content in Innoson automobiles, said they were
impressed with the various stages of manufacturing
witnessed during the visit.
Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the committee,
Hon. Asita Honourable, said that they were happy to
discover that more than half of the auto components were
sourced locally, and urged Nigerians to patronize the
company.
“The Innoson motor plant at Nnewi is a huge honour to
Nigeria.” he noted. “What is going on at Nnewi is an
amazing feat which needs to be encouraged. This is not
an assembly plant, but a full production site where
Nigerian auto engineers are exhibiting their skills. We saw
them and felt extremely impressed that such marvelous
feat is existing in our country.”
He, therefore, stated that the committee would support
Innoson by using its buses in carrying out official
activities. “The high standard of Innoson Vehicles has
made us to endorse it for our jobs. We have resolved to
make it an official vehicle for the assembly.”
He also praised the vision of the company Chairman,
Chief, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma OFR, saying that his
ingenuity has added value to manufacturing sector.
Innoson makes a wide range of vehicles at the plant,
including buses of various sizes (mini, shuttle, intra- and
inter-city), refuse compactors, SUVs and many others.
“Chief Chukwuma is indeed a mega industrialist. Apart
from the motor plant he established, he has plastics,
motorcycle tyre and tubes industries as well. Certainly the
multiplier effects of all these in employment sector is
overwhelming and such a man requires government
support. He is a true Nigerian with patriotic zeal. He has
demonstrated that through the establishment of all these
plants. Of course, we the Lawmakers would not hesitate
in assisting him to achieve greater result.”
Thanking the visiting Lawmakers, Chukwuma promised to
make the prices of new automobiles cheaper in Nigeria, if
he is adequately encouraged in his venture to produce
good quality and affordable vehicles, making use of
substantial local input.
