Designing Technology for the Minimum Viable Product : Implement design thinking / agile methodology / user-centered design and user acceptance testing for all new services for internal clients (staff and partners) as well as external clients (communities the ICRC serves).


In particular, a project history of mobile-first software design is welcome. The ideal candidate should have a portfolio of projects that started small, were tested and reconsidered, and scaled or failed accordingly.



Delivering on Time and Within Budget : Oversees the implementation of the information environment strategy and roadmap and seeks to align it with the ICRC's transformational projects, with management and oversight of technology systems and project management.
Leading a Diverse, Global Team : Experience and enthusiasm for managing across time zones and with networked teams important.


The ideal candidate will demonstrate active listening skills in the management of these employees, valuing both new ideas and the history, complexity and realities of the ICRC’s field environments.



Providing Structure, Transparency, and Oversight : Working closely with the finance department of the ICRC and via the project management office, manage to agreed-


upon project timelines and budgets, demonstrating value for money and taking innovative approaches to projects, leveraging the ICRC’s global network of technology colleagues.



Enable the Work of Our Humanitarian Colleagues : With a customer-service approach, support the service desk to best enable to work of the ICRC’s 17,500 staff, the majority of whom are located in our 80 delegations worldwide, many of which present difficulties for connectivity and hardware maintenance.
Be a Leader Within the Organization : Provide meaningful feedback, guidance, and, where appropriate, paths to advancement for those who report to her / him, with a particular dedication to an inclusive, diverse working environment and a commitment to a gender-


balanced technology management team.

Relationships



Internally, interacts within the Communication and Information Management Department and with all other departments, in particular at deputy director or head of division level.


Has occasional contact with governing bodies.



Externally, interacts with a wide range of stakeholders and audiences including International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement partners, humanitarian organizations, technology corporations, etc.


Education and experience required



Bachelor's or master's degree in information management, project management, technology or innovation management, or equivalent.
A minimum of 10 years of experience
Significant international experience in mid-big size multinational organizations, with proven ability to lead a diverse, multi-cultural team;
Prior experience in field-based humanitarian work is a strong asset.
Strong analytical, and project management and service delivery skills
Excellent spoken and written English, with French and additional languages an asset.


Desired profile and skills



Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to connect with people at all levels of the organization
Ability to clearly communicate priorities and decisions to stakeholders inside and outside the organization.
Travel and regular interactions with field colleagues expected.
