You guys think is a joke, if you see the rate Nigerian doctors and nurses are leaving for Uk, Canada and Australia, there will be a time people will fall sick and no one will be there to treat them.

[quote author=nurez305 post=71408370]After spending 7years or more due to strike and you expect them to dump their certificates and enter farm...

Naija my country[/quote

I knew A guy who did that. He graduated from unilorin. We actually told her was insane. And lots of ugly story went viral because everyone thought it was a stupid decision. Today he is a big type farmer, entrepreneur lecturer and he tour round the world. Even had federal government support. I learnt not to judge people's dream and idea.

All these ranting calling the man all sorts of unprintable names is just what I don't understand. What the man said is just very much in order.

Don't other graduates who even studied more than the over hyped Doctors farm? Please, there are many PhD holders everywhere in the world who are farmers. The ministers' advise is not bad at all. A lot of people spend up to 12years studying up to PhD and later deviate from what they have studied. That is why you have Lawyers, Accountants, Doctors, Engineers, surveyors, etc all going into politics instead of only practising what they have studied. Else, politics should have been left for those who studied political science and public administration.

Although, I know that some people's view on this discussion is out of ignorance. Because I have read where some are saying, after 7years, how can the person drop the certificate and take up hoes and matchet and go to farm. They forgot that farming has gone far beyond that level even in many rural communities today. Again, they should also see farming beyond just cultivation of land for food. How many hospitals are up to the level of any of the Dangote farms be it sugar, floor, rice etc in terms of wealth and other indices? So Any graduate can make a far better decent living out of farming if he so desire to do so. its a matter of choice.

God bless u

That he make it through farming after graduation doesn't mean others will be successful. If everybody become a farmer today please who will be the buyer? Not everyone is bless with entrepreneurial skills

What a shameless answer from a supposed minister of health. If the minister of Agriculture makes this statement, I'll personally see no fault in it, but for the minister of health who sees the inherent decay in the medical sector, and who knows what the doctor:patient ratio should be in a nation striving to become developed to spit out such trash. Then there is no hope for Nigeria if these crop of politicians remain at the helm of affairs.

The bone of contention does not lie in the fact that a doctor is too big to be a farmer, be it small scale or big scale farmer. The problem is that the statement came from a minister of health (not agriculture), who was asked to report on the efforts made by the government to support the medical postgraduate training program known as residency and thus increase the number of specialist doctors and meet the medical needs of the teeming population of Nigerians.

And he ended up blurting out such statement. If you fail to see that there is a problem in what was said by him by reason of the position he occupies, then you are not being objective.
