You are right. I have boarded a bus in Lagos, and the engine of the bus was in the back of the bus. The conductor was at the back driving the bus literally. The driver at the steering wheel was busy shouting high am, high am ... no, slow down, slow small etc. We joined him and started telling the conductor (who seemed to be hard of hearing) when to slow and when to high. Crazy place, Lagos.

Seen this before and discovered that the vehicle a broken throttle cable and the man was sitting there to help the engine pull some torque while in motion till it gets to a mechanic.
