NLC missed the point. Here are areas it should take on the government that have more effects on workers and the rest of Nigerians.

1- Yes workers need salary increase but NLC should press more on regular payment of salaries for Nigerian workers. Only FG and few states are paying salaries regularly in Nigeria.

2- Pension and gratuity payments are unduly delayed if paid at all. That is beside being too little for retirees to make a meaningful living after work. I have seen a retired CEO of government agency that is unable to buy sallah ram because his entilements were not paid 11 months after leaving service.

3- Discrimination in employment. Only sons and daughters of the elite get employed. These days government employment are done in secrecy to children of politicians and elite who hardly need any employment in the first place. Why will sons of say Atiku,Saraki,Sultan and Emir of Kano snatch jobs available for the poor? Do they honestly need the jobs? But NLC leadership will look the other way because they are also carried along in the evil scheme.

4- Salary dichotomy among government agencies. Why should NNPC,CBN,FIRS,NPA and others take 300℅ more than what their counterparts take in ministries and non juicy MDAs?

5- Taxation- even the little workers received as salaries are heavily taxes apart from taxes they paid as VAT while buying food and fuels in the market.

6- Provision of basic needs of life in affordable transport, housing, education, health care, water, electricity, security and roads.

These may take long to come but are more meaningful demands than mere salary increment that will be rubbished by inflation.

Why not wait till After September Salary is been paid before declaring the nonsense strike, we masses depend on monthly salary to survive and most Labour leader have enough to survive even if the strike last longer. Now bank is not working and salary is withhold. ATM not effective.
