What happens when you fall in love with your best friend?
Because it’s happening to amaka…she never thought of him of
nothing much more than that..an innocent close friend but
what happens when you are up all night thinking about that
“friend” when he texted you saying hello and it made her
whole day, you can’t stop thinking about this particular
person no matter what you are doing …well let me tell you
this is exactly what happened to amaka she fell in love with
her closest guy friend dele.

Dele called me on around 2:13 on Friday , he invited me to a
compulsory lunch at dominon pizza at abule egba I was
wandering what dele want to collect from mW this time because
he always treat me like a princes when he need my help tho he
his a nice guy , I ignored but he forced me to it dele is that on
friend that knows how convince me, well me and dele has been
friend for years now he work at ecobank as a cashier , while I
work at nnpc dele wanted us to be lovers years back but
somehow I don’t feel he his the Right person , and that time I
too dey form i just got my job then and as of that time he was
working as a sales rep at shop rite at sango although currently
my salary is almost x7 of dele’s salary’s , but now after so many
hearth break down the road I start feeling for dele after all this
years he sees me like a Friend tho but he now has a place in my
hearth as a crush , to cut the story Short so I called my friend
aisha to join me , so we both went to meet dele at dominon
pizza we Arrived at the perfect time because the table we always
sat on had just been cleaned up “this way please” the door man
wouldn’t
stop looking at me and I guess I wasn’t the only one that
noticed because dele looked at me and wrapped his arm
around my waist and walked me to the table , so that the door
man would think he his my boy friend, “you can
thank me later” dele said with a smile “you didn’t have to
do that, it’s not like he was being rude or anything” dele
looked at Aisha and began to talk ” yeah, but he wasn’t cute
enough for you” dele ordered a pizza with some refreshment.
“amaka I need to ask you something” My
heartbeat immediately speeds up.. what is he going to ask
“What is it dele?” I could see he was stressed about what
ever it was “look, my mom doesn’t want me in the house
because my sister is moving in soon with her kids and
since you have an extra room I was wondering If maybe I
could live there for a while just until I get my own place” I
knew dele and his sister didn’t get along but I didn’t think
I’d get to the point where they couldn’t be under the same
roof. I can’t believe dele is asking to move in with me or his he
having feelings for me too ?, when will you be moving in?” He
smiled
since I had agreed he could move In “whenever you allow
me to” what I’m I suppose to do I need to go home and
clean up also I need to re-decorate..wait why do I care it’s
not like he’s never been to my house “you can start moving
stuff tomorrow” dele gave me a kiss in the check “thanks,
I love you” oh my god I know we always say I love you to
each other but for some reason now it felt different. We shared
so many jokes then Aisha and I got back to my place dele had
gone back home to start packing and getting ready for
tomorrow’s
move . As soon as I closed my door Aisha attacked me with
questions “oh my god!!! Dele is going to live with you!
this is your chance to make dele move amaka, what are you
going to do? are you going to let him live here forever?” She
was getting a little too excited Aisha relax, no I’m not going
to tell him and he said it was just until he got his own place,
it’s not a big deal! now help me clean the house amebo” Aisha
rolled her eyes “that’s how it all starts, he moves in for a
week and the weeks turn to months next thing you know you
are married with eight kids and stop calling me a
Amebo…anofia!” I rolled my eyes and ignored her comment.
We both started cleaning the apartment I made sure every
corner of the home was clean specially the room he was
going to stay in by the time we were done it was already
really late and I had to drop Aisha off at her place. I was on
my way back from dropping her off when I felt my phone
vibrate amaka I know it’s late and you said to move tomorrow
but
my sister moved in today and we been fighting ever since I
got here,so I was just wondering if it was okay if I moved
right now ? And can you help me with my bags?|
my apartment was already clean so I had no reason not to
let him.

that does nothing but make things worse. I’m on my way to

I turned and drive to his house and started putting the small
Bags in my car
“Amaka thank you so much for what your doing for me”
Dele said with his voice trembling while he wrapped his
arms around me pulling me towards him and giving me a
tight hug, when dele gave me a hug I always felt so safe
and for a moment everything else disappears
“you’re welcome. You know I’d do anything for you” dele
just smiled while he started to put more bags into his car
“it’s going to be so much fun. The two of us living together!”
I got blushed at the thought of dele living with me I got so lost
in my thoughts that I forgot to keep track of time ” it’s 2:30 am ,
hurry del I’m really tired and I need to go to the gym early
tomorrow morning ” dele quickly packed the last bag “That’s
cool..can follow to the gym tomorrow?” I shook my head up and
down “no wahala, you can
come just make sure you wake up early because I won’t be
waiting” I know dele has a tendency to sleep in. I got in
my car and dele leaned onto the window “amaka am very
greatfull” he said sounding a little excited, I
started the car and he got into his we both drove away
Dele in front because he drives like a crazy person and I
in the other had always drive at speed limit he always makes fun
of my
driving saying I drive like an old lady, When we reach home we
decided It was late and we would unpack tomorrow in the
afternoon ,the next day I woke up on my bed but I couldn’t
remember getting there,
all I remember was falling asleep on the rug “Morning
beautiful amaka ready for the gym?” I looked up to see Dele with
a sleeveless shirt by the sides of it you could see his 6 pack “no
wait let me
shower and then we can go & Dele how did I get to my
bed from the rug?” “Well you fell asleep instantly when we
got home so I had to carry you to your bed” I smiled “thank
you ” I can’t believe dele carried me to my bed are you
kidding me how do I not remember any of this chineke..I must
of been really tired.I got out of my shower and put my gym

my black running shoes and I grabbed my eva
water bottle “lets go deleeee!” I yelled loud enough for him
to hear from his room that was just the next door to mine
“your car or mine?but I’m driving because if its up to you we
are going to get there by next year” I smiled “fine,lets go in
your car because I’m not risking getting my car crashed” i
was already in dele car when I her him starting to shout at
some guy. Dele slammed the door “what
happened why were you screaming?” He completely ignored
my question “dele! Kilode! Why were you screaming at that boy?”
Dele looked at me straight in the eye “he said you have big yash
and he would love to touch it “* , I just told him a couple
things I mean what was I supposed to do let him disrespect
you like that?” I bursts out my laugh loud as always and he
just continued to look angry “what’s so funny, you think it’s
funny that guy disrespected you? I swear I was going to beat
him up!” I thought it was so funny how man he got at that
guy “no dele It’s just funny how mad you got” I smiled “it’s
because I care about you, you’re like my sister”
Like a sister? Makagini?You got to be kidding me I’m totally
crushing on this dele boy and all he could say was “sister” I
can’t deal with
this I looked out the window and ignored him for the rest of
the ride there. He noticed I was upset “What’s wrong ama?
is something bothering you?”
“no dele I’m fine can we please get inside I don’t have all
day?” I got out if the car and slammed the door, I know it’s
stupid to get mad at him I mean how was he supposed to
know I have the biggest crush on him if I didn’t tell
him…Him being so clueless just makes me even more
angry. As soon as we got inside I hit the punching bags and
Dele just watched how I kicked and punched. Great now
he’s defiantly going to know something is up I never get the
punching bags unless I’m stressed or mad about something
and he knows that. I took off my gloves and got on the
bikes they have in the back area of the gym, he sat in the
one next to me “hey, are you going to tell me what’s wrong
now?” I put my earphones on and played ire the song
by adekunle , I
ignored him until he left me and went to do some punching
himself, maybe I should tell him what was bothering me but
how do I tell him that without admitting I have a crush on
him? but won’t it be like I have do shakara for him when we first
meet and he want us to be dating Who am I kidding self I’m
practically In love with this dele boy. I
got off and started walking to the pool . I’ve always loved to
swim or just sit there and think maybe do a little singing . I
sang and
sang my life away until I felt dele’s touch my shoulder “I’m
ready to go back home are you ama?” “Yeah whatever ” I
got up and walked back to the car the ride was awkward
and you couldn’t hear anything but our heavy breathing since
we had just spend 3 hours in the gym I noticed dele
turned the wrong way
“Dele,you turned the wrong way”
“I know we did”
“Where are we going?”
“Don’t worry about it ”
Great,he’s taking me somewhere and I’m not allowed to
know where it’s at? You have to be kidding me. I should of
brought my car.
I’ts been an hour of non stop driving,my butt is starting to
hurt
“Dele can we please stop to stretch & eat”
“No,we can’t”
“Are you alright dele this isn’t funny I don’t feel safe right now”
“Relax babe,it’s not like I’m going to kidnap you” he took a
long pause “look I just need to find out why you got so mad
at me”
Great! so this is what it’s about….should I tell him? I start
to get nervous because when dele wants to find out
something trust me he finds out
“I’m not going to tell you, it was stupid dele just forget it
and let’s go home I’m tired”
“I can tell when you’re lying, we been friends long enough. I
can read you like a bed time story”
It’s true when I lied to dele he always knew, no argument
there . I noticed dele smile
“We’re here”
“Finally!” I quickly got off the car and looked at my
surroundings there was no one in sight. Looked like a
deserted beach, I guess you could say. i followed dele
into the beach we sat on a bench
“Okay now… tell me what’s wrong”
“It’s nothing dele seriously”
” are you kidding me? I saw how mad you got and how you
were punching the bags today,something is bothering you, Is
it something I said or did ?” Or is it because I talked to that guy
that anyhow
“No” I looked away but dele turned my head to him
“Like I said I know when you’re lying,
what did I say tell me”
“You called me your sister”
