Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest and oldest disciplines of engineering; it is a branch of engineering that uses physics, mathematics and material science principle to design, evaluate, manufacture and maintain machines, devices, mechanical equipment and frame works. They also implements components to monitor and control their product’s performance and status. They are also essential in military hardware production and electrical power generation.
Mechanical engineers uses tools such as computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) and product life cycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, weapons and others. It is a branch of engineering that involves the design, production and operation of machinery.

Fields of mechanical engineering

The fields of mechanical engineering include:

Mechanics which includes; Fluid mechanics, kinematics, static, dynamics, continuum mechanics, biomechanics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD)

Thermodynamics- Heat transfer, thermo fluids, energy conversion.
