BLOODBATH PRIMARIES: EKERE DISMISSES  DEAD PARTY MEMBER AS LOCAL POLITICIAN

The mayhem and loss of lives during Sunday's gubernatorial primaries by the All Progressives Congress, APC, appear to be insignificant to Mr Nsima Ekere, the man fingered as mastermind of the crises.


Obong Nsima Ekere in his reaction to the alleged killing of Ukeme Efanga by his supporters, only made a vain attempt to exonerate himself saying rather that violent disagreement between local aspirants in Uruan local government.

Mr Nsima Ekere's reaction which came 24 hours after recorded loss of lives has been seen as rather cold, unapologetic and unremorseful.

Several atrocities were recorded by several gun bearing agents of the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, who reportedly snatched electoral materials, and chased away party members from electoral centers.

One of such calamities led to the killing of one Ukeme Efanga, a father of 3, by Mr Ekere's alleged agents.

Efanga, whose death was first brought to public glare by a former member of the state House of Assembly, Mr Kufreabasi Etuk, was said to have been killed at close range after resisting attempt by Mr.Ekere's agents to run away with sensitive election materials.

The death of Mr Efanga while performing his civic responsibility triggered sensation all over the media, with people wondering why the governorship aspirant wanted to march on innocent blood to attain his selfish desires. 


Speaking through his media assistant, Utibe Ukim, Mr Ekere said "violent disagreement between local aspirants in Uruan local government area resulted in the death of a party member in Southern Ward 5."

Despite the calamity that rented the air across the state at venues of APC Primaries,  Ekere showed insensitivity by stating that, "the governorship primaries of our party, the APC, went smoothly at most ward centers across the state."

Recall that Ekere during one of his rallies in Ikot Ekpene, had displayed some guns and ammunition as weapons he will use to crush his enemies.

As at the time of filing this report, uncertainty reigned as no one could get information on the result of the primaries.

Earlier, it was reported that there were exchange of blows by two former senators, John Udoedehe, a governorship aspirant and Ita Enang the presidential national assembly liaison officer, at the party secretariat along Ikot Ekpene road in Uyo.
