The national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was on Wednesday afternoon locked down, following a violent protest by youths against the adoption of direct primaries for the APC senatorial ticket in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to Vanguard Newspaper, the protesting youths said that they are FCT natives and alleged that the use of direct primaries would mean that a non-FCT native could clinch the ruling party's ticket for the sole senatorial seat in the territory.
