Graduates! They are the architect of their downfalls. Are they the only one jobless? Are they the only poverty stricken individual? There is no excuse, whatsoever for committing crime. Most of them graduate from universities and polytechnics without being loaded with relevant practical skills that can put food on their tables; they prefer to be watching movies through their labtops; they devouted more efforts on movies by watching all rhe series more than they devoulted on getting relevant skills on the areas of studies. Another set of people waste a lot of their useful time while in school analyzing footballs; argue about Messi and Ronaldo for most of their productive lifes, matches that will be played 7:45pm, some students will be sitting infront of their TVs or live streams from 4:00pm to watch pre-match analysis, even when Ronaldo or Messi is yet to be on the pitch, thereby, wasting a lot of their productive life on irrelevant issues. Some are too addicted to computer games; programmers who developed most of these games were never even found playing them after releasing them to the market, yet, some students who suppose to focus their attention on what will put food on their tables will prefer to be catching fun when they should be working. At the end of the day, when kamal is caught up with them, they will begin to blame government and old men and women for their woes. Also, government should try to restructure our present system of education, as most tertiary institutions in Nigeria are indirectly recruiting unemployed youths. Most of the lecturers lecturing in our intitutions presently do not have industrial experiences, some have never worked in the industries for one day, and here they want to train students to go to the industries where they themselves have never been to. How will it work? Some are retained to become lecturers to teach immediately after graduation just because they come out with first class, even without any industrial or practical experiences. Some of these first class materials did not even do IT ( Industrial Training); while their colleagues were busy getting practical skills, they, on their parts, were busy reading for the next semester handouts or lecture notes materials, so they can maintain their first class out of the schools and properly given automatic lecturing appointment which can have negative impact on future graduates. Beside lack of industrial practical skills by most lecturers, so many of them are not even talented in teaching, they can not transfer useful knowledge to the on-comming generations, therefore, should not be in the teaching business. Lecturers like this can be put into research if he so good academically or research-wise, and not teaching. Emphasis shouldn't be only on academic achievement and journals, it should be extended to cover, how many years of industrial practical experiences they have as well as if they are talented in teaching even the dullest in class to understand so they can sussessfully transfer knowledge to the on coming generations instead of living students emptied, unfulfilled and unemployable after graduation. Even though, our system of education is calling for restructure, students have no excuse to cause more problem for themselves by wasting higher percentage of their school life's doing or going after irrelevant skills that will not put food on your table or contribute to your well being in the future.
