Reports reaching the News Gazette on the just concluded All Progressive Congress, Primary elections for Ukwa West State constituency has produced Engineer Uruakpa Sterling Chinwendu as the winner of that election, he polled a total of 11,196 votes to defeat other contestants in a direct primary election.

Announcing the result, the returning officer, Chief Sebastian Opara, thanked the party members for coming out in large numbers to participate in the election and declared Engr Uruakpa Chinwendu Sterling, the winner of that election having recorded the highest number of votes cast and therefore declared him as the party's flag bearer for the 2019 state House of Assembly election for Ukwa West State Constituency
