Many researchers use to go there to find out why it is. Reason some concluded its because of the type of food they eat...Meanwhile not all twin babies are formed by the division of one zygote.

My dad was also a twin. We actually have two set of twins in my compound. The bottom line is that ilasa and Amala they claimed to be one of the reasons for the twins is not so. I think it is primarily generic.

It's not just among igboora people. It's the whole of oyo state, Kwara and osun state. There's a high twinning rate among igbomina people too. They are found in Kwara and Osun state. Go to any school in these states, I'm sure Ull find a lot of twins there. In my hometown in osun there's no household without twins. My mum is a twin. My grandma had 3 sets. My dad also has twins in his family.
I personally think it's hereditary. But my grandma believed it was because they used to worship a twin goddess back in the day. I don't believe in wooden gods but people usually get what they worship/want/confess/desire, so maybe dt was the reason it manifested.
