Diaspora Nigerians for Real Change on Saturday warned that replacing Peter Obi as the running mate of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for next year’s election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, will portray Ndi-gbo as a divided ethnic group in the country.

The group in a statement signed by Chief John Ufondu wondered how any reasonable Igbo could be kicking against Obi as the vice presidential candidate of the PDP for the 2019 general election, urging the opinion leaders in the South East, most especially the apex Ndigbo body, Ohanaeze, to call all warning factions together and back the candidacy of the former governor of Anambra State.

The statement reads: “It is disheartening that while high profile politicians like Bauchi Governor Dankwambo are congratulating Atiku on his wise choice some leaders of thought in the South East will be unhappy with the candidacy of Peter Obi as running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

“I think what is needed right now is for us as a region to rally round the former governor of Anambra state.

“We have been complaining of marginalization, this is now an opportunity a candidate from south East to be near the Presidency for the past 35 years.

“Moreover, replacing Obi will portray Atiku as an unserious politician that is not strategic in his decision.

“The ruling party will use that to campaign against Ndi-gbo.
“What is necessary now is for Ohaneze to rally round Peter Obi and Atiku candidacy.”

Every reasonable and normal Igbo man will be happy with Atiku's choice of choosing Peter Obi. I mean, no reasonable citizen of this country will be against Peter Obi running with Atiku.

Only sophisticated certified zombie slaves of a failed lifeless dullard will do such.

Igbos hate to see themselves progress.

Umahi's only grouse is that he wants the VP to be picked amongst the present governors of the South East.

But we are not bothered.
Umahi is an unrepentant traitor to the SouthEast.
A Buhari stooge and an APC sympathetist.

Umahi is all of that and Ebonyi state is the weakest link of the South East.
Peter Obi is the man.

they are not against Obi, they only said they were not consulted.
they only aired their grievance after all open rebuke is better than secret love.

Their only fear is Peter Obi would never award contracts if given the oppurtunity without work done and in record time.. neither would he award contracts based on "padi padi".

Peter Obi will be replaced with another Anambra indigene in just a matter of days. The powers that be in the southeast are fiercely against him. Atiku can't afford to offend them.
