The presidency has reacted to the viral video of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, allegedly receiving bribe amounting to about $5million from contractors in the state.

A sting operation by an online newspaper that captured the governor on camera was said to have began two years ago when one of the contractors agreed to plant spy camera on his kaftan while offering the bribe.

During the about 10-month effort to capture the bribe giving/taking scenes, the governor’s face and body were reportedly clearly captured in nine clips, while six others did not clearly reveal the governor’s face. About $5m dollars were said to be delivered to the governor in all.

However, the clip stirred reactions online as some Nigerians described the development as a “shame to the Buhari led administration,who claim to be fighting corruption.’

But, reacting, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Diaspora & Foreign Affairs, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said the video was suspicious.

On her Twitter page, she wrote, “No audio?? Suspicious.”

Responding to a user, who asked if CCTV had audio? she said, ”You are obviously ignorant. The report said the person who recorded hid the camera in his cloth, in this political season, don’t get carried away with anything and everything. Think.”

Any person who is obsessed with proclaiming his “integrity” at the slightest opportunity but won’t investigate, much less fire, shady characters he has appointed to work with- and for- him can’t possibly be truly a person of integrity.

From PTF to The Buhari Organization (TBO), Buhari has consistently protected corrupt close aides from the consequences of their ethical and legal infractions.

This attitude of mollycoddling corrupt but loyal aides and appointees while pretending to be a man of “integrity” who is “fighting” corruption is getting worse by the day and indicates that, in spite of self-righteous declarations to the contrary, Buhari is himself morally indistinguishable from his crooked cronies.

It is impossible to deploy the resources of logic to argue that Buhari has integrity. He doesn’t. Well, unless integrity means something to Buhari supporters other than what it actually means in the English language

You saw a video without the audio circulating on social media tagged "bribery"..In saner climes, questions like what could be the motive of the person covering the money exchanging hands? Or could Ganduje be receiving payment for a business dealing? Or Where could the video have come from? Or what sense does it make for Ganduje to be receiving bribe in that manner from contractors? etc should come to mind..

But No! Most of our youths just go the direction of the motive of these desperate politicians...and it's a piry
