Covenant University Registrar Sex Scandal, Olumuyiwa Oludayo Finally Steps Down by dmakoy: 3:30pm On Oct 16, 2018 |
Covenant University Registrar, Olumuyiwa Oludayo has finally stepped down. This is coming just few days after another CU Alumna, Osi Osi called him out openly over sexual misconducts allegations. Although both him and Covenant University Mgt are yet to publicly issue any response to these allegations, the University has come under widespread public criticisms and bashing, most particularly from her Alumni community across the world and these recent developments may not be unconnected with the continued demands and calls on the university to act approximately as regards these allegations. Oludayo has since been replaced with another official of the University by name, Dr. Lanre Amodu who is now the Acting Registrar. Until this new role, Dr. Amodu was the Director in the Office of the Vice Chancellor. He was also a Former HOD of the Department of Mass Comm. A quick look at Olumuyiwa Oludayo's profile: As a Covenant University Student, He was: 1. One of the CU pioneer students in 2002; and graduated with a 2:1 and as the best graduating student in Human Resources Mgt. in 2006. 2. Pioneer Students' Council/Union Chairman (2002-2005) 3. Was arguably the most trusted student by the University Chancellor, Oyedepo and the MGT; 4. The Chancellor, Oyedepo actually declare him as his friend (not just a student) openly before the general students' assembly. This made him the envy and role model of some of his peers. As a CU Alumnus (Eagle): 1. Pioneer President of the CU Alumni Association (2006-2014) 2. Pioneer BOT Chairman of the Alumni Association till date. 3. Openly ascribed unto himself the title, the "Lead Eagle" of the Alumni. 4. The Chancellor, Oyedepo reaffirmed him as his friend openly before the Alumni Annual General Assembly (a.k.a CU Eagles' Summit). As a CU Employee: 1. He resumed as a Graduate Assistant in 2007 after his NYSC. 2. He was Assistant Chaplain at the University Chaplaincy. 3. MSc. in HR Mgt. in 2008. 4. Appointed Dean of Students' Affairs by the Chancellor, Oyedepo (2010 - 2011). 5. Thus he became the 1st CU graduate and the youngest person to become a member of Mgt and Senate. 6. He was appointed the Registrar @ age of 32, by the Chancellor, Oyedepo (2013 - 2015). 7. He was adjudged the "Youngest University's Registrar in Africa @ age 32" 8. Ph.D HR Mgt. (2014) 9. He was appointed the Director of the African Leadership Development Centre of the University by the Chancellor, Oyedepo (2015 - 2017). 9. He was appointed again as the Registrar by the Chancellor, Oyedepo (July 2017 - Aug. 2018). 10. After his 2nd term as Registrar, he hand over to another appointee of the Chancellor, a pastor in winners chapel. 11. Few days later, he was reappointed as the Registrar, on claims that, "no suitable replacement was found in his place" (Aug. 2018 - Oct. 2018), until these allegations became a public issue. Arguably, Oludayo has been the "Most Powerful Employee" of Covenant University as he has nearly 100% backing and authority of the Chancellor, Oyedepo. Thus, 1. He enjoyed unrestricted access to the Chancellor, Oyedepo. 2. He's widely tagged the Chancellor's Friend, Confidant and Adviser. 3. He stood as the Chancellor's Eye at various Mgt/Senate meetings and key decision/policy-making meetings. 4. He was a key signatory to the University's Bank Accounts; until he signs any cheque, no money is released (whether approved by the VC or the Director of Finance). 5. And more and more. No doubt, Olumuyiwa Oludayo has not only distinguished himself, but he also has enjoyed highly favored access to power and resources within Covenant University structure. But rather unfortunate how these unfalsifiable allegations of sexual misconducts against him have soiled the great reputation of an intelligent young man like him. Indeed, 'Money, Power and Women' are very important things any man destined for the top in life must be very careful about. I sincerely pray for his restitution and recovery. Amen!

Lanre Amodu is a very fine pick. Truth is of recent, the Alumni was hell bent on him leaving so i knew it was just a matter of time. Over the years he has used Oyedepo's influence to familiarise himself with the top most people in Nigeria's government - Governors, Senators, Religious leaders, he goes with Oyedepo on every top level trip so i know he would pick himself up again. Oludayo, regardless of his fault was also a fantastic advocate for students. He was a leading voice in the fight to get NUC to overhaul the Nigerian curriculum and decentralise academia. 1 Like |

dmakoy: You forgot to state that he was brilliant a student who grad with 4.49 cgpa and that was largely attributed to his student council commitment taking toll on his academic focus. He dropped out of first class at the very last second. It was a popular story then in 2006. 1 Like |

CodeTemplar:I think the story was more like he almost made a first class. Anyways, just happy he stepped down, as it is the responsible thing to do. Never was a fan of the guy anyways. |
