Worcester cafe sparks fury by selling biscuits shaped to mimic rape-accused footballer Cristiano Ronaldo having sex
Jose Goncalves, 47, has sold more than 70 of the x-rated cookies for 50p each
Biscuits from his Our Taste of Portugal eatery in Worcester have caused uproar
He said they had proved popular - selling between 60 and 70 when they first went on sale - but has since admitted it 'may have been a mistake.'

Juventus star Ronaldo, 33, is accused of assaulting Kathryn Mayorga, 34, at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009, which he denies.

Mr Goncalves, who has run the cafe in Worcester for four years, said: 'I'm sorry for any offence they may have caused but I thought it was just a bit of fun.

'The Portuguese have a tendency to laugh off everything and I thought this would also appeal to the dark British sense of humour.

'Most people seemed to find them funny. All the people who came in, they all had a laugh and took it in the spirit intended.

'They bought them to take to their friends and family because they know the news about Ronaldo and they compare that with the cookies and they have a laugh.

'They even told me it was a brilliant idea to do something so different - we Portuguese have this big humour and we laugh off things.

'I would not make a joke about a serious crime such as rape as I have experience of it in my own life but nobody in our country thinks Ronaldo did it.

'I personally think its just a woman looking for some money and fame. They are not even biscuits of a man and a woman having sex anyway.

'It is two men and we use them for gay parties and make them for Gay Pride each year. They are just silly shaped biscuits.

'I deeply regret it now though because of some of the comments I have received and I can only apologise. It may have been a mistake on reflection.

'They were only on sale for a couple of hours and I won't be selling them again because I fear for the reputation of my business.

Anti-rape charities in Worcester called the biscuits 'disgusting' while other critics demanded a boycott of the cafe (pictured today)

'We do a lot for the local community, we are not just a cafe, we are a meeting point for people and I really didn't intend to cause any upset.'

Lydia Johnson, a referral co-ordinator at The Glade, a sexual assault referral centre in Worcestershire, said it was never OK to make a joke about rape or sexual assault.

She said: 'I couldn't really believe it when I saw it on Facebook, I was disgusted to hear about it.

'There's really no circumstance when it's ever going to be OK. It's disappointing and infuriating really to think anybody would think it was a good idea.'
