Why Is Nigeria A HotBed For Scammers? by Voy(m): 8:53pm On Oct 17, 2018 |
Nigeria, the one time giant of Africa at present is infested with; poverty starvation unemployment corruption over population poor infrastructure under development A few scammers Nigeria as you may have heard is blessed with hundreds of natural resources, and Nigerian citizens are highly intelligent, although this high level of intelligence is been used to perpetrate illicit activities such as; off and online scamming, kidnapping, pick pocketing, theft etc. It should come as no surprise that if the natural resources and the talented young men and women blessed with Nigeria where to be in another country (especially a western country) Nigeria would no doubt be the richest and the most developed country in the whole world. but this is not the case for the present day Nigeria. Because apart from the scam we are talking about, Nigeria is also infested with; Bad corrupt evil money hungry political leaders poorly educated youths like myself inactive citizens who expect foreign countries to solve the problems of their dear country get rich quick mindset poor innovation, industrialization by the citizens due to lack of an enabling environment and many more….. As i have said before, this is a country blessed with highly intelligent youths. Nigerians who engage in this illicit business called ‘scam’ are on the look for gullible victims ‘’off and online’’, promising them unattainable riches……. A Nigerian youth, sitting behind a half charged ancient personal computer (Laptop), with a 100 mega bite internet subscription. Promising you contracts worth millions or unending, unprecedented amount of love.

It's so because there are so many ignorant/poor people, in Nigeria. Poverty can make you do what you ought not to do. Poverty mindset, leading to excessive greed, selfishness, corruption etc |

A combination of continuous economic decline, cracks in our value system, the “bling show of social” media generation, and tenacity and doggedness of Nigerians ( which should be a good thing when applied to honourable endeavours), is the reason for this. It is easy to blame a lack of sufficient opportunities for this, but Nigeria isn't the only country experiencing large scale poverty. However it can be curbed if the penal system was swift, and the police effective. There are many countries where the penalty for scamming is less stringent as compared with Nigeria, but the difference is the prompt enforcement. Humans generally are inclined to prefer the path of least resistance in attaining a goal, in this situation the goal is always, financial gain. Deterants from engaging in ilegality to attain goals are either a high level of morality or a high degree of fear of the legal punitive consequences of ones actions. If the law enforcement agencies become very effective and the judicial system becomes swift in dispensing Justice, this infamy will be gone a matter of a few years. |

As a Nigerian, I think we have a disproportionate reputation as a scamming hotbed of the world, I must say this menace is a big threat to how people around the world view genuine and innocent Nigerians going about with their legal business. However, in this modern world, if Statistics is something to be reckon with, Nigeria will certainly not be in the top 10 hotbed for scammers in the World. Nigeria’s rank as number one is only based on perception and not by a proven and objectively sourced data. India, China, Russia, Vietnam, Philipines, The United States and many more Eastern European countries like Romania will most likely be up there with Nigeria, but without the reputation. |

The reason is so simple and found everywhere nowadays, even musicians in Nigeria now answer this question “I must be rich… no matter the cost” “The end justify the means” Because people will always celebrate the rich and affluent in Nigeria, we mostly no longer value hardwork. Even as interesting as going to a university and getting a degree… Nigerian youths now see that as too much hard work. But we should know that “bad things make good news”. For I can still say the population of hardworking youth in Nigeria still outweigh that of the “lazy Nigerian youths” So for whoever wants to still invest in Nigeria… do not be afraid for you will meet genuine people to work with. Just be sure to do your findings before getting involved with anybody... What’s your answer Lalasticlala?? |

Sorry to be so dramatic but ‘’if at anytime you fall for a Nigerian scammer it was because you agreed to get scammed’’. thanks for reading... Voy: |
