@opokonwa: Now I see you are painting the waysmiley Well done. You know from your constructive and educative posting the silent readers like us are moved by your world of experience but when we tend to see disharmony we sense it's time we say hi. You know too much salt kills the soup, so if a thread is filled with too much too know then the too knows are not really spreading well. So I guess most of the silent readers contribute on other threads and leave the likes of you to put this thread in order. The title reads: Which Way Nlng? and i just changed it to Which Way Nigeria?
Anyway opokonwa, it's best for us to heed our words and speak only when and how it's necessary.

opokonwa:

Once upon a time indeed . . . undecided

Yes, it could have remained educative and interesting if people refrained from spinning polarising and racially divisive posts!
I'm even appalled that it comes from (supposedly) one of our own. embarassed

Secondly it could also have remained educative and interesting if perpertually silent readers like you had played a more active role.
Perhaps a more 'positive' role (however you may refer to it).

But everyone is quick to judge when the cookie crumbles. sad

Kuwena might have been annoying and divisive with his posts.
But he had more 'liver' than most people that I've met on this thread.
He had the 'liver' to live his life and exhibit his weaknesses, ignorannce and sometimes stupidity, no matter what anybody thought.

For that alone, I gbadun him.

So many pretenders walk into the thread only when a fight erupts.
Beyond that, they have absolutely nothing meaningful to contribute.

Adieu Kuwena!

Well I have contributed significantly and positively to this thread, I never wrote NLNG test but when I stumbled on this thread I was intrigued, a group of intelligent people coming together to keep their dreams alive, I occasionally dropped a line or two to encourage all hopefuls.

When the final list came out, I dropped a line or two to congratulate the selected ones, even when they went to London for training or whatever that was; I also dropped a line to congratulate them.

I also encouraged the few that were not selected.

When Tommyex was recruited later on, I dropped a line to congratulate him on this thread.

So I think your statement first and foremost is unfair….

I always come back to this thread to pick a line or two statements which I feel may be useful to me, my career, my life and to check up on you guys

My line of business is consulting, business advisory to be precise….did you guys discuss anything about that……let it be that I dint contribute positively?

I just felt appalled that this whole thing has degenerated to this level and if by voicing my concerns I offended you, then …… accept my apologies ok?

Well the idea is for us to be constructive and seek ways of always spreading beauty with our words, thoughts and deeds. So much to investigate so much to research on. The beauty is learning aright and giving in our energy to those troublesome processes and experiments which seem to make me look nut wondering where I went wrong. The fresh graduate seek opportunities and we can stand as channels to them.

Re: Which Way Nlng? by opokonwa(m): 5:07pm On Jun 20, 2008
@Uchetobi
In fairness to you, I've seen your post a few times.
They usually came very sparingly and often on special ocassions.
Either someone was fighting (then you lamented)
Or someone was celebrating (only for tommyex tongue)
Or simply a one-liner 'after a million pages' tongue
I appreciate.

I would have appreciated you better, had you been more consistent (as consistent as you read us!).
We didn't need to discuss about consulting before you can contribute (I know you work in KPMG tongue).
After all, the discussions here had never dwelled on telecoms where I've spent practically my entire career.

I wasn't only addressing you.
I was addressing a particular trend that I've noticed on this thread.

Peeps are quick to jump in (with their judgements) to have a last word whenever a misunderstanding arises on this thread.
And I wonder where they were all the time we were developing it and entertaining them?
I think it is rather selfish! angry

If you love the thread and you enjoy what you read and your experience on it,
contribute to it while it is still alive!

Don't come and give us a 'Judge Jury' whenever the guys are having a misunderstanding,
when you couldn't contribute anything to keep the thread going!

Nigerians love judging from the sidelines! angry
Yet very few take responsibility!

You didn't offend me. I was just being myself; 'vocal'

Men, its difficult to express but the last two days

of my life has been the most dramatic.

Yesterday was probably the most challenging ever,

infact my whole world was literarily crumbling.

Infact I was at the point of solicitn for prayer and fasting from dearly beloved thread members  smiley.

I faced a mountain that looked absolutely insurmountable

but trust . . . .

My Yahweh will always show up at the time you need Him most.

Its hard to explain or even comprehend how things turn around,

infact God is faithful.

Today has been one of the best of my entire life,

things worked so well that even the 'backlogs of badluck' from the previous day were cleared.

Praise the Lord, that is my testimony.

well there is one reason that I feel might be associated with my incredibly good fortune today.

Guess . . . . .

Its Alfaprime's birthday !!!!

Yeeaah, my friend and brother adds another year today.

Read before viewing picture -- it's worth it!
A picture began circulating in November. It should be 'The Picture of the Year,' or perhaps, 'Picture of the Decade.' It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the US paper which published it, you probably would never have seen it.

The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas , who is being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner .

The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas , is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta . She knew of Bruner 's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville , he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.

During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby. As Dr.Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel , the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger. Dr .Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile.

The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity. The editors titled the picture, 'Hand of Hope .' The text explaining the picture begins, 'The tiny hand of 21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life.'

Little Samuel 's mother said they 'wept for days' when they saw the picture. She said, 'The photo reminds us pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness, it's about a little person.' Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful.

Now see the actual picture, and it is awesome, incredible, and hey, pass it on. The world needs to see this one!

don't u just love God, awesome, !!! what do u guys thinks of dis,

Happy B/day to me? lol!! Thanks, Pak! (Hope u haven'tblown my cover, though!)

And thanks to all the lovely peers on this great thread who helped make this day really worthwhile with their well-wishes et al.

@Opoks
Actually my charger did get burnt, but it's been replaced now. Even b4 the weekend as I'd hoped.

@New/Silent posters
Forget the seeming acridity in his words, Opoks has got a silent point there. I was also one such silent reader on this thread, and at a point I almost totally stopped visiting during WW1 on ths thread (for those who know what I mean! But then, after the truce I decided to come out and begin active contributions, in the hope that together we could maximise this opportunity and spin out great ideas to make Nigeria truly great. Like I said once earlier, this entirethread started in the first place, only because at one point or the other in the past, we had wanted to work for Nigeria via NLNG!

But in retrospect, I can say that if the posts of those who have remained active on the thread couldn't stop therecent WW2 from occuring, what's the guarantee that the participation of the silent readers could have? Well, who knows? But we can all play each one, his/her little role to make the threada livelier and more constructive one.

@Kuwena
You said you're signing out, so why do I still address you? cos some how, I expect that u'll become a silent reader on this thread for a while. U started it, granted, and honour must be given to whom honour is due. I'd feel bad to see you go and would surely miss some of your brilliant postings, but if the truth must be told, I know that even if I join U in "exiting" the thread,WWNLNG will not stop simply becos we left. U see, all over the world, great people are known for starting small things that end up outliving and outgrowing them, so beware if u eventually get to float Catpar, You may also find yourself faced with the choice of either staying and being critiqued, or thrwing in the towel and quitting.

@All others
Got to run now, wishing U all the very best. Even if your Birthday falls on a very busy weekday on which U have to go to work and even work late, be sure to take out time and reflect on the more salient values of life, how far u have come, and what is needed to get U fulfil your destiny and make it into Heaven.

Cheers all!
