phcn charges 21.3 naira for one kilowatt per hour. you need to know the wattage of an appliance to be able to calculate costs. so let's use a simple example of our popular 100 watts yellow bulb. if you have 5 of those bulbs running for 10 hours a day,it means you have 500 watts running for 10hours that will be 500watts multiplied by 10 hours then divide the answer you get by 1000. 500 * 10 = 5000. divide answer by 1000 you get 5kwh now multiply that 5kwh by the 21.3 naira I mentioned earlier and that's 106.5 naira to run 500 watts bulb for 10 hours. In case the explanation isn't clear, the formula is
Watt X hours divided by 1000 then multiply your answer by 21.3 naira. to find wattage of your appliances eg your TV just look for the sticker behind the TV or any appliance and you'll see the wattage printed on it.
