...as group launches Skill acquisition centre
By O’star Eze
Mr Oseloka Obaze, Professor Stella Okunna and Dr Ifeanyi Ubah were among those who recently pledged support for sickle cell patients in Anambra State.
They made this known during the recent grand opening of a multipurpose skill acquisition centre by Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder in Nanka, Orumba North LGA of Anambra State.
Speaking during the event, Obaze said he was inspired by the resilience of the leader of the group, Mrs Aisha Edward applauding her “zeal and ingenuity in pivoting the affairs of the organization.”
He observed that her work of giving a voice to sickle cell patients and advocating for their well being is what the government should be doing. “Aisha Edward’s doggedness is worthy of emulation and called on the government to do well to assist her cause as it is “genuine and altruistic,” Obaze said.
He then enjoined members of the association to emulate their leader and look beyond their condition to become useful members of the society.
Obaze disclosed that he has donated a bus to the group while pledging to continue supporting the association in however way he could.
Professor Bernard Odoh who was represented by CSP James Nwafor (retired) said he was proud of Aisha Edward and would continue to support her cause.
On her part, Professor Stella Okunna said she was proud of the Director of the Association, Aisha Edward. She encouraged her not to relent in her struggle and congratulated her in her recent feat of establishing a multipurpose skill acquisition centre for the group. She also appreciated Ifeanyi Ubah and the Obazes for heeding the call of the association praying for God to continue blessing them.
She said she would always make herself available to the association as she is encouraged by its activities as it concerns promoting the cause of sickle cell patients.
Dr Ifeanyi Ubah said he was encouraged by the strength and passion exhibited by Aisha Edward adding that it was the reason he got involved in her cause.
Ubah who was represented by Chief Emma Ogwueleka and Chief Charles Agu Onyeka, both members of Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation’s Board of Trustees said he was satisfied with how Edward was following through on the cause of Sickle Cell Disorder and pledged to continue supporting the empowerment of sickle cell patients through the association...
