We took a ride from Frankfurt to Hessen, just like Lagos to Ibadan distance.

Just see how smooth the roads are, and you will cry for Nigeria afresh...

Our destination is the town, Rudesheim.
Going to the one of the UNESCO's cultural site situated on the bank of the Rhine river

Took a cable car ride from the valley to the top of the mountain and experienced the mesmerising panoramic view of the city.
Also along the banks is expansive vineyards for grapes they use in winery

So, this traffic light is in front of our hotel, and we wanted to cross over to head for the restaurant, in my 'spirit of Lagos', I dashed to cross in the middle of road and wifey gently pulled me back and pointed to the lights. Immediately, it occured to me that this is not Lagos ooo, better leave the madness behind

Unlike Amsterdam, immediately we arrived Frankfurt Airport, there were practically no blacks. Even when we went to the main shopping street at Zeil, something like Idumota/Broadstreet, we could count blacks on our finger tips.
Then, in this hotel, with over 50 guests that came down for breakfast, we were the ONLY blacks.
We are already feeling like exotic species here. Lol

If you take a walk around i am very sure you will find few black folks...

Any way my Tour guide explained that Frankfurt Ostend, which is the East side where we stay is the upper class environment, so it's natural to have mostly whites.

That's the full continental breakfast. It's filling enough to take one through the day.

Most of their restaurant menus are just not palatable to our taste buds, so we went to the shops and packed plenty of mixed nuts, biscuits, juice etc...

The bolded is so untrue, Frankfurt has a very large population of Africans/Nigerians compared to other smaller cities. The main reasons you don't get to see them is because they are all working at the time you are sightseeing. If you want to feel exotic try visit any smaller village in Bayern. Then you will know what it is and feels to be exotic . Anyway, hope you have fun and be warm.

This got me laughing......... Don't tell anybody this ohhh ...... Hessen is the state and Frankfurt is an independent city. So if you are in Frankfurt, you are technically in Hessen. It is like Lagos and Lagos(eko).

It was like 1.5hrs drive with the driver doing 150-170km/hr so I thought it's a different state.
Anyway, I am still angry that for over 50years, our politicians still can't fix roads on our major hubs.

So, after that long cable ride, you will arrive at the top of the mountain where they have this gigantic 100meter monument - the statue of Willem I, the great German Emperor who led them in the 1870 war against France.
After defeating France, the former independent German provinces were unified and thus, the birth of German Empire began.
It shows that wars across Europe in the 16th to 18th centuries played significant roles in the formation of the various nations.
In Africa all we do is fight civil wars that is highly destructive and creates division among us.

This monument is called NIERDERWALDENKMAL, you can Google it for more info on the history behind it.

Oh Men! We didn't get to stay down for long at Schiphol but I already love that facility.
Our tranfer lag was about 2.5hrs, and by the time we went through the long line of Passport control, and the long journey to our boarding gate (walking like from Stadium to Maryland in a winding, painstakingly beautified building),
Of all the three- Schiphol, Charles De Gaulle, and Frankfurt International, it's the best for me.
I don't know when it was built but it sure looks newer than the rest.
I was also impressed by that intelligent conveyor belt that moves baggages in trays according to their content.

Hope I will be coming yearly from now on.
So, we are heading to the airport soon to catch a 6.50am flight to Paris!
I was thinking we will do a train trip to Rome so we can enjoy more views of the Alpine mountains but the duration is damn too long! More than 12hrs - No way I can be that patient.
I'm sure Paris will be bad ass!
Can't wait to take those iconic pictures at the world famous Eiffel tower!
