“Fear Mongers” is a message by Senior Pastor of House on The Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin in his “Something is about to happen” series.

Essence of Man

A fear monger is somebody who causes fear and peddles it. The only real thirst quencher to the human spirit is the presence of God. The essence of man is not physical, the essence of man is spiritual. Man is a spirit he's not a body; he is a spirit that has a soul and lives in the body. And the only thing that will really satisfy him is anything that has the presence of God in it. The thing you're looking to quench your thirst in your soul will only be quenched by an encounter with God because without worship you can never bring through the manifestation of God's presence and acutely become aware of him or his disposition towards you.


God’s Word is Eternal

When God looks at you, he doesn't just see you where you are. He sees your past and the reality of your future. When God looks at your now, he sees the pain of your brokenness and difficulty. He's empathetic towards your circumstances, but he also sees into what caused you to become what you are or where you are right now, and so he can deal with the root.

God can look into your future and see how destiny has worked together with the circumstances of your life to produce a brilliant future that he has planned and thought concerning you. God’s word is as eternal as he is. His word can come into your present and heal you but also go back into your yesterday and deliver you from the pain. And then go all the way into your future and secure your destiny so that no matter what happens, God will find a way to take you into your tomorrow.

We must be a Doer

Jesus was much more than a rhetorical speaker; he was a massive doer. It's not so much about what you say, because what you say only gains importance when it's in line with your actions, character, lifestyle and the things you do in the community. As Christians, it's our business to go and look for dead aspects of our society and bring them back to life. Otherwise, in this cultural age of disbelief, the church will not be believed because of what we say, but because of what we do. Before we speak, we must earn the legitimacy to speak by first doing.

Reaping the Harvest

There’s a fear monger in every harvest. When you're about to step into your harvest, there's a fear monger standing there, flopping in the wind saying you can't have this harvest. But Jesus in John 4:38 said: “I sent you to reap that for which you have not laboured; others have laboured, and you have entered into their labours.” The Job of the fear mongers is to scare you away from your harvest. The fear monger causes panic, trouble and difficulty, and is very tactical and strategic about it. If God sends you anywhere to reap a harvest, then there is nothing the enemy can do to hurt you.
