The governorship candidate of NPM in Imo state Amb. Tony Kelvin Obinna had decried the attitude of governors running cap in hand to Abuja every 25 days for funds, Amb Obinna in an interview with the political editor of the news gazette in Owerri the capital of imo said it is only laziness that will warrant a governor in a state like Imo with preponderance of natural and human material deposit to depend only on federal allocation to meet up with the state’s financial responsibilities.

Amb Obinna said agriculture alone can sustain the state, stating that with cash crops such as oil palm, raffia palm, rice, groundnut, melon, cotton, cocoa, rubber, and maize.

Consumable crops such as yam, cassava, cocoyam and maize which are also produced in large quantities if properly exploited can be exported for cash and Imo will also attain food sufficiency.

A serious and creative government will revolutionize the agricultural sector in imo state and I am confident that the funds derivable from the sector alone can turn around the economy of the state.

He frowned at the inability of the present government to pay salaries and pensions despite all the natural inheritance in agriculture, oil and other mineral deposits.

Amb Kelvin Tony Obinna the governorship candidate of the NPM in Imo state said if elected as the governor of Imo state he will ensure that Imo state will prioritize agriculture and turn it into a major revenue earner.

In the same vein Chief Mrs Crystal Jane Nwanedo Osakwe the deputy governorship candidate of the NPM said an organized government will explore the enormous potentials available in the entertainment and hospitality industry, he said states like Hollywood in the united states derive all their resources from entertainment, the actress and radio personality turned politician said Imo has such great potentials in the entertainment and hospitality industry and all that is needed is a government with the right attitude and will power to investment in the sector and I assure you the resources derivable from that sector can sustain the state.

She said the NPM government if given the opportunity will partner with the private sector and create funds and employment from within.
