Matchday four of the Champions League group stage signifies a step up in hostilities in Europe’s top competition. The initial jostling is over and the cut-throat nature of the competition begins to surface.
Arguably this is nowhere more evident than in Group C, where Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool are all vying for two qualification spots.
Just two points separate the leading three clubs, and while the Reds are expected to pick up a win in the early kick off against Red Star Belgrade, that means the pressure will likely be on both the Italians and the French to keep pace when they meet at the San Paolo later on Wednesday.

Having had things all their own way in Ligue 1 this season, winning all 12 games to set a new European record for victories at the start of the campaign , Paris Saint-Germain must prove in this encounter that they are more than just flat-track bullies and genuine Champions League contenders.
So far in the competition, they have barely looked like a team capable of winning it. Red Star Belgrade might have been blown away 6-1 at Parc des Princes , but PSG were well beaten by Liverpool at Anfield on the opening night of action and required a last-gasp Angel Di Maria equaliser to secure a share of the spoils between these sides last time out.
Buffon, whose career goal is to win the Champions League, well appreciates the challenge facing his side.
“It's not a normal match. We know it would be very important to win and something big,” he said. “But it's also important not to lose on Tuesday. We'll also have the opportunity to win against Liverpool and Red Star.
“I know this stadium very well. I think it's very difficult to win here because the atmosphere is white hot, a tough atmosphere. The team and the supporters share a great feeling. It's very important to go out to try and win the game, but it'll be tough. Napoli, as they showed in the first game, is a team to respect.”
Indeed, Carlo Ancelotti’s men have already unseated last season’s finalists Liverpool 1-0 at home and can feel aggrieved that they do not already have one foot in the last 16 having come so close against PSG last time out.
