As the Nigerian film industry expands, more female Nigerian filmmakers are taking the reins behind-the-scenes of some of your favourite movies.

For far too long, the Nigerian film industry has churned out films that promoted false narratives about women. This was because there were only a few female Nigerian filmmakers in the industry during Nollywood’s early years.

Thanks to revolutionary directors like the late Amaka Igwe, who kicked the door open for women coming behind, this narrative is changing gradually.
