The first set of rabbit(2 females and 1male) was gotten from a lecturer from the University of Benin, Edo State, Nigeria around February, 2018 as a side income, healthy and nutritious meat for my family. The lecturer actually told me 'it will overwhelm you'. Truth to his word, i can really say it is overwhelming as am currently in possession of over 30 rabbit after much eating, give-aways and sales of more than 20 plus few mortality. The size is expected to double before the end of the year. Rabbits are not without their own challenges, but compare to other animals, they are far easy to manage, you just need to attend to the basic of the following; #1. Proper Hygiene #2. Good/Reliable Stock #3. Quality feed and feeding. Care must be taken when feeding with greens. Even though some of the greens like bitter leaf, scent leaf and pawpaw leaf could serve as both food and as drugs care must be taken when administering it to them. #4. Proper attention: You could easily detect a sick rabbit and take proper action that could prevent mortality in the farm if due attention is given. From my own experience, a #10.00 tetracycline has saved many time because of timely intervention. The common disease of rabbit is Coccidiosis which can be prevented and managed easily. Why not start your own backyard and commercial rabbitery today and enjoy/explore the lifeline benefits of this evolving business. For more information on how you can start your own rabbit farming, or you need a good breed to start, either for breeding purpose or meat purpose in Benin-City,Edo-State or around the south-south kindly contact us through the following Olaidemuyiwa@gmail.com 08038082109
