RE: SUBSTITUTION OF MY NAME FOR CONFIRMATION AS CHAIRMAN, NDIC

I am constained to write on the above subject matter and more particularly the terrible precedent it would set for future confirmations by the Senate of Executive nominations.

The relevant facts of this Petition are as follows:

1) I was nominated as the Chairman of NDIC by the President based on the recommendation of the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun in light of my extensive experience in business and management for over 40 years both nationally and internationally after having served successfully as the Director-General of his re-election campaign in 2015.


2) The Governor, because of my belief in and fight for justice, equity and fairness, decided to embark on a vendetta in light of his failed mission to unilaterally install the Party's Governorship candidate in the forthcoming 2019 general elections- a mission that was not only undemocratic and unacceptable to majority of the members of the Party in the State, but also contrary to the express directives of the National Working Comttee ( NWC ) of our Party, the All Progressives Congress ( APC).


3) After I had undergone the Senate screening procedure, and the rigours undertaken in completion of same, I was reliably informed that the Governor, in retaliation against my support for Prince (DR) Dapo Abiodun MFR, who eventually emerged the winner of the gubernatorial Primaries and the ultimate flag bearer of our Party as against the Governor's anointed candidate embarked upon a series of reprisal actions including deliberate misrepresentation of facts to the President.


This must have induced the communication regarding the substitution of my name and replacing same with his current commissioner for urban and Physical planning, Mrs Ronke Shokefun.


In view of the above, I hereby urge the Senate to stay further action on the replacement request until the President is fully briefed and sufficiently updated about the sinister motive behind the purported substitution letter, especially after I had satisfactorily completed the thorough screening procedures of the Senate in accordance with the 1999 Constitution.


To do otherwise will amount to injustice and tantamount to laying dangerous precedents with the likelihood effect of eroding public confidence in our democratic process.
As a former member of the House of Representatives myself, I have absolute confidence in the ability of the National Assembly to perform its constitutional duty without let or hindrance.
