Contradictions in Atiku's policy document

Given the level of noise and chest-thumping that preceded the release of Atiku Abubakar's policy document one had expected something fantastic and novel. Sadly, like most things ever linked to him, the document is filled with contradictions and outright lies.

~Atiku says if elected he would sell more national assets including our petroleum refineries and the NNPC. Can we ever trust a man who sold NEPA, NITEL, Nigeria Airways, Tafawa Balewa Square etc to his friends and cronies? Never.

~ Atiku Abubakar as Vice President for 8 years was Chairman of the National Council on Privatization. Strategic national assets were sold under controversial circumstances. Nigeria was shortchanged in the process.

~Atiku promised to finance his infrastructure plan with the same Sukuk interest free bond introduced by the APC government. The noble thing to do is simply to commend the Buhari administration before stealing his idea.

~His party, PDP, had consistently criticized the Sukuk bond option as an attempt by the APC to Islamize Nigeria, even though Britain, which is not an Islamic country, has since embraced the idea.

~Atiku promised to create 3 million jobs per year, which is going to be another scam. This is a man who recently claimed to have 50,000 people on his payroll and within days claimed again that the figure was 100,000. He and his surrogates took cover under darkness when they were asked by Nigerians to provide evidence of the claims.

~He also promised to lift 50 million people out of extreme poverty by 2025, among other unrealistic things he wants to do by that year. He must have forgotten that he had repeatedly promised to serve for only one term, if elected, and that one term expires in 2023.

~He made a lot of wild claims about security challenges around the country without acknowledging that the present administration has done a lot to arrest the situation in recent months. He also failed to remind Nigerians that militancy in the Niger Delta was at its peak when he was Vice President and that kidnapping which later became a thriving business, started with the Presidency-backed kidnapping of Governor Chris Ngige of Anambra state in 2003.

Privatisation of the power and telecommunications sectors is one of the best thing to happen to Nigeria. Neither NEPA and NITEL were working prior to the privatisation exercise. Today, we are enjoying it.

Meanwhile, Nasir Elrufai, APC chieftain was the then Chairman of BPE that did the job under the supervision of the VP. If anybody is to sell to friends, Elrufai, not Atiku should be indicted. Beside, who are these friends? Are they nameless?

Sukuk is never the initiative of Buhari nor did he own it. He deserve no credit


PDP never called Sukuk funding as Islamisatiob attempt.


With improved economy and favorable working environment, 3 million new job is possible.


His government may terminate in 2023 but governance is a continuum and I see nothing amiss here.


As VP he wasn't the President/Commander in Chief, so he hold no blame in the rise of militancy then. However, part of his 2007 blueprint was to establish Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and Dialogue to address the militancy situation, which successive administration adopted after he lost 2007 poll.

Additionally, the Presidency NEVER backed the kidnap of Chris Ngige!

I used to be a fastidious reader of your posts because even when some weren't dead accurate, they still provided some new information about happenings in Nigeria. But all that have gone with the wind just as your integrity.

Functions of NCP

Approve policies on privatization and commercialization.

Approve guidelines and criteria for valuation of public enterprises for privatization and choice of strategic investors.

Approve public enterprises to privatized or commercialized.

Approve the prices of shares or assets of the public enterprises to be offered for sale.

Approve the appointment of privatization advisors and consultants.

To approve the budget of the Council.

Tell me you were not serious when you elevated Rufai (the Secretary)above Atiku(the Chairman) in the ranking of NCP functionaries. It's just like saying that an SSG is more powerful than a governor.

Where were you when Ngige was kidnapped. Probably still in school. So I don't think you will know much of what happened. Even if you do you won't tell the truth because of your new found romance with PDP.
Ngige kidnapping was orchestrated from Abuja with the Uba brothers and the IGP as troop commanders. Chief Audu Ogbe saved the day.

OBJ may be senile now but he was clear headed when he said this of Atiku:

Meanwhile, who are the friends in question? Which asset was illegally privatised? Which asset is unproductive after privatisation?

Your trying to put Rufai in the of fire for the ills of NCP while exonerating Atiku was what I disagreed with. Atiku knows the sin he committed against his country, I haven't accused him of anything except to re echo the opinion of his past boss, OBJ. You are the least to even attempt any defense for him.
