Pls is it true that 2ZR-FXE engines( singleVVTI) can be used on a car originally with 2ZR- FE engine( dual Vvti ) e.g corolla 2009 + by simpling exchanging the camshaft?

The first and the last pics are 2ZR FXE with single VVT( note the OCV sensors).

Looking carefully at the transmission you have a hybrid setup there. most toyota hybrid engines have Atkinson cycle driven engines. Same bore and stroke, but different compression ratios for easy start ups from the hybrid motor.

In conclusion, the block would be same but the head is different.

Swapping out the camshafts should solve the problem.

Modified: the dual VVTI might be a problem for the oil passages so Inspect both head properly before committing any funds to this project, also the valve cover will be replaced along with the missing OCV.

Perfect answer.
However I would be more comfortable swapping the cylinder head altogether, if the original problem was purely a matter of excessive oil consumption.

Thanks @gazzuzz and inception. I asked because i saw some 2ZR FXE engines and the seller claimed they can be modified easily to work on other 2ZR FE cars.
