Tall, Dark, Warring and a short temper grin ; the Nilotes are a proud set of African Supertribe called Nilotes (genetically related) whole origins are traced back to the Nile valley.

Those are the three qualities you will find in common in any Nilotic tribe anywhere on the African Continent. In Kenya, the Luo who also point to service in the Egyptian army, are the loudest, most politically contentious tribe. The Turkana in Northern Kenya and Southern Sudan are not any calmer. They are giving Tullow oil explorers ultimatum and blocking roads to stall tanks. The entire Nilotic homeland From South Sudan to Northern Uganda and Eastward into Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia is an unofficial war zone. Mostly because of endless cycles of cattle rustling.

I asked a Kalenjin friend of mine why there were so many cases of serious assault cases in the region. Some of these serious bone breaking injuries are directed towards the old, and don't discriminate according to sex.

"Well, it's disrespect to hit a respected person with bare hands or with wood...", he said; "you have to use metal..." shocked

The Kipsigis(Highland nilotes of Kenya) say this of their origin ...

It is believed that the Kipsigis originated from the north, and were originally part of the Pharaoh's army in Egypt. They became concerned that Pharaoh was not able to win wars reliably, so they parted ways, with an "us against the world" attitude. They started pushing south, raiding villages for women, cattle and grazing land...

The Joshua project

The Luo, as recorded concerning Egyptians, do not circumcise their males. Over time, with migration and mixing, some do, Like Masai. The rest opt for body scarring(like the Nuer and Dinka), teeth removal like Luos and some early Kalenjin subtribes; and other forms of disfigurement.

The Armies of the Pharaoh was so effective that there are historical records of other Kingdoms seeking their aid whenever they were besieged. Israel was so dependent of Egypt to scare her enemies away for her to the extent that God could not remain silent ... he had to remind them;

Isaiah 36:6 |
Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him
