history of cultism and violence in Nigeria universities Could be traced to 1952 when a undergraduates of university college Ibadan established the pirates confraternity.

They encouraged humanities activities,fought colonialism and tribalism as could be seen in their four compass point.

1. Against Convention
2. Against tribalism
3. For comrades and Chivalry
4. Humanistic ideal
But several years Later, it has changed to the complex menace known as campus cultism and gangsterism. Their achievement of those objective could be seen in the bloodshed in our campuses and the number of cadavers in our Medical College.



Some members of the pyrates confraternity who were Suspended instigated a rebellion in 1972. This rebellion was Led by Alora Robo Granuta and Alora Rica Ricardo . They have their motto as No price, No Pay. They believe the pyrates confraternity overstepped it’s Line of duties and intimidated innocent people. So they claimed they were there to check the excesses of the pyrates.
