Jesus Did, They Did, Why Not Us? by beloveeed: 3:53pm On Jul 31, 2010 |
I came across a site today which stated that there are things that ended with the apostles and they base their claim on 1 cor 13 that since the perfect (bible) has come therefore the imperfect has ceased to exist which include the gifts of the Spirit which include working of miracles, tongues etc. Now this I find amusing considering the following scripture John 14:9-15 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. KJV Now look at verse 12, was this statement directed at those who where alive that is His disciples only or every other person after the disciples might have moved to the other dimension awaiting us. For in the above verse He said the things I (Jesus Christ) do shall he(those that believe in Him) also do. He did not stop there but went further and stated that greater than what He did shall such (those who believe in Him)do.

from the attached image, the disciples who together with us believed is seen fulfilling His promise but us in this dispensation are daily surrounded with opportunity to allow the Power to flow. Question: why them and not us? Are we different? They further emphasized that timothy and some other disciples under Paul here not healed but like timothy was requested to take some wine (a sort of medicine) to heal him. Further question, could timothy be in unbelief that is why he was requested by Paul to take some wine. Because some people when Jesus was around believed He was the son of a carpenter only and not the Son of God, hence because of their unbelief, He only did a few miracle no? |

In addition, from the above we can see that From the foregoing, they did what He did but dont forget He said "greater than this". from the account they have not done the greater. so who will do the greater and what ARE the GREATER . i wish only people that we are on the same level that is in Christ who believe THEY ARE SEATED TOGETHER with Him to discuss and share. |

People are unable to raise the dead, heal amputees, turn water into wine, walk on water and the story said Jesus did because it is JUST a story and the story is a fable. . . .The hadiths also have the prophet of Islam dividing the moon into two, and making a tree cry. . . .All these stories are nothing but FABLES that is why NO Christian on earth can do anything that Jesus or his disciples was written to have done in the bible stories. . . . |

Not all who profess christ are true xtians. Not all true xtians understand the what the power of God in them can do. Besides, not all have the same gifts, not all desire the gifts of healing, not all are prepared to do what it takes to be a channel for the gift of healing and miracles. It takes sacrifice, listening to God, having faith in what he's said, and doing what exactly he said to do. How many are willing to fast for 7, 21 or 40 days for a sick person? How many are happy to stay up all night praying for a sick person? The MOG who prays at a meeting and the holy spirit moves, healing many at time, do you know how many days of fasting, listening, praying and obeying he has done? James 5 v16:KJV J : Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much God's Word Translation: So admit your sins to each other, and pray for each other so that you will be healed. Prayers offered by those who have God's approval are effective Jesus did it, they did it, and we can do it too. Jesus told us about the signs that would follow those who believe. We can do it if we please God and have his approval. Also see Yefet's post here: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-485226.0.html |

thanks seyibrown for that reply, and may God bless you at the right hand of God in Christ. Not all who profess christ are true xtians. Not all true xtians understand the what the power of God in them can do. Besides, not all have the same gifts, not all desire the gifts of healing, not all are prepared to do what it takes to be a channel for the gift of healing and miracles. yes that is true but i have some doubts abot this sentence not all are prepared to do what it takes to be a channel for the gift of healing and miracles. note Christ did not say do this and that then this things i did you will do but this what He said v12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. the only one thing is BELIEVE and that He is Gone to the Father. For me i see a Promise not rules to be done before such manifest. It takes sacrifice, listening to God, having faith in what he's said, and doing what exactly he said to do. He not only said what He did but GREATER WORKS than He did and this i believe comes from acknowledging more of His Abundant grace in our life. Philem 4-7 4 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, 5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; 6 That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. 7 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother. KJV How many are willing to fast for 7, 21 or 40 days for a sick person? How many are happy to stay up all night praying for a sick person? The MOG who prays at a meeting and the holy spirit moves, healing many at time, do you know how many days of fasting, listening, praying and obeying he has done? must it be only MOG how about the saint in your backyard? i believe that is why i feel we only look to MOGs and at times they misfire. but i believe when He (Yehoshua) said those that BELIEVE he never restricted it to just 'em but any saint. i believe fasting, prayer etc are important but in themselves they are not the yardstick but a means to an end so we should emphasise more of who we are in Him, Him our Life, His Grace and every good thing in us as saint in Him. Jesus did it, they did it, and we can do it too. Jesus told us about the signs that would follow those who believe. We can do it if we please God and have his approval. You are already approved (accepted in the Beloved) by Him as a saint Eph 1:4-8 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; KJV Also see Yefet's post here: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-485226.0.html thank God for Yefet's post and i believe he is not some great MOG but a 'mechanic' if am not wrong but that is what i mean, |

Thanks beloveed. I know we do not have to be MOG before God works through us! There are many friends around me who God works through who are not ordained ministers. yes that is true but i have some doubts abot this sentence not all are prepared to do what it takes to be a channel for the gift of healing and miracles. Coincidentally, in church today, the sermon was 'Elijah - the power of a praying life' - James 5 vs 16 and I Kings 17 vs 1. Elijah prayed, listened to God, obeyed God and God worked mightily through him. Jesus also spent a lot of time in private praying. He also fasted. We know what wonders were worked through him. When we BELIEVE, we will let him guide us and lead us. When he says fast and pray and we do so, we are OBEYING him and we will receive the end of obeying him. Elijah went Zarephath and Paul went into the desert. He teaches us lessons in the places he takes us through. He moulds us, works on us before letting us loose. You need to let him work on you if you want him to work his works through you. |

Isaiah 9:6 NLT 6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. And the government will rest on his shoulders. These will be his royal titles: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 KJV 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ============================================================================================================================================================= Isaiah 10:27 NLT In that day the Lord will end the bondage of his people. He will break the yoke of slavery and lift it from their shoulders. Isaiah 10:27 KJV And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. ============================================================================================================================================================= Psalms 24 NLT 1 The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. 2 For he laid the earth's foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. 3 Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. 5 They will receive the Lord's blessing and have right standing with God their savior. 6 They alone may enter God's presence and worship the God of Israel. Interlude 7 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. 8 Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, invincible in battle. 9 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. 10 Who is the King of glory? The Lord Almighty- he is the King of glory. Interlude Psalms 24 1 The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. 2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. 7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah. ============================================================================================================================================================= Roman 8:26-34 NLT And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we don't even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn, with many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And he gave them right standing with himself, and he promised them his glory. 31 What can we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? Will God? No! He is the one who has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? Will Christ Jesus? No, for he is the one who died for us and was raised to life for us and is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God, pleading for us. Roman 8:26-34 KJV 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. |

Hi Praise the Lord! i found the answer to my question and it is on this site http://www.codrington.biz/papers/miracles.htm take your time to read it and you will be blessed. I now know that the reason we dont see genuine miracles etc but counterfeit ones is because Jesus Christ and His message has not been glorified. well this is my conviction. but u can go and read more of the reasons. stay blessed. |

But some people do see genuine miracles, though i understand your view point sha. We do need a fresh breath of 'apostolic miracles'. |
