Gurus in the house please I want to get your input in a venture I'm nursing to take. So I've always loved the MB W201 series (Benz 190 AKA Baby Benz). I'm thinking of getting a clean Nigerian used one with good body. Our general practice here in Benin is slapping an M111 (W202 C-class engine) with the ECU and engine wire and it works fine. Even my dad's V. Boot was converted that way and it drives like a dream. But now I'm thinking of taking it a notch higher. I'm thinking of getting a 190 and placing either an M112 V6 engine or an M113 V8 engine (of course with all the necessary parts ( ECU, wiring harness, V6 or V8 exhaust system, radiator etc)) . Do you guys think it's feasible, at least for a V6? cc: Gazzuzz and all the auto gurus here. Including comments will be appreciated.

He's done something similar, I believe, but with an older V8.

For a V6 it might just fit with very very little room for engine accessories (for the M112 engine)Note that there may be a little structural modification involved to the chassis rail).

For a v8 it will definitely involve significant structural modification on the chassis rail and strut tower.

the w201 chassis was never designed for a v-configured engine

Yes, I'd personally go with the inline-6 M104.

I might explore that option too, but let me see what the gurus have to say about the V6 and V8.

My major concern is if it'll require any structural adjustment, if the adjustments will be just mechanical or electrical, then I'll be equal to the task.

I think he stands a better chance with the m112 in a w124 as it has a wider engine room

You should have at the back of ur mind how easy will the maintence be after installation
Cos if its chocked you may not find it funny accessing some parts incase of replacement

D m112 engine is a 90° v6 it is very wide the major problem with the older w201 and w124 chassis is that the steering box get in the way of exhaust manifolds of v engines. For the w201 you should probably try the inline 6 m104 it's just as powerful as the m112 and easier 2 package in the w201 chassis another option is the m111 compressor which is very close in power to the six cylinders

I envisage a lack of competency to fix this in Nigeria. But youtube has a lot of DIY videos, so literate mechanics shouldn't have a problem.
