Recently, the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, has been on the frontline of campaigning for a total shift to globalism and multilateralism. An idea which seem to be gaining ground as the years go by. So let's discuss, between nationalism and globalism, which is better?, especially in the Nigerian context. |

Nationalism is superior since values, work ethic, interest are different nation to nation. This globalism isnt good for nation since it ignores those facts and ends up pushing policies that can be against a nations interest. It especially breeds contempt when you feel like its foreign bureaucrats setting the rules. This isnt to say nations dont benefit from International trade, spread of ideas and regulated movement of people. In the Nierian context we benefit from ECOWAS trade but its at max potential since we arent very industrialized. If you look at imports u notice we import export the same type of stuff. Then blocks viggest trade parters are Europeans and China. |
