You guys make the north look so bad on media that I often wonder if it's this same north I reside. I reside in Niger state (at least for now) and this nonsense isn't seen as it is thrown on the internet.

The level of education on that matter is increasing in that region. However, no man can go to parents in the south to ask out a minor hand in marriage (like a case of a norther governor that married an 8 years old and went on BBC. To defend it.). But it is not uncommon in the north mostly north west and north east.
