The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has described the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari and his deputy, Professor Yemi Osinbajo at the burial of soldiers killed by Boko Haram in Metele, Borno State as ‘totally unacceptable’.

In a statement he personally signed yesterday, Atiku said it was even more painful, when the federal government refused to send a delegation to represent it at the funeral.

He called on Buhari to learn from the French President, Emmanuel Macron, who on March 28, took a whole day off to attend the funeral of Lt. Col Arnaud Beltrame, who was killed by a terrorist after a March 24, 2018 terror attack on the South of France.

The president is the chief of the armed forces of the republic, he is a leader of the army, he is expected to be present during the burial of his soldiers. He is just like a king who leads in battlefield and so, he is expected to understands the pains of losing a man to the enemy.
If Buhari couldn't make it to the burial of our soldiers who died during the course of war, then he isn't a leader. It is expected of him to be there in person and bid them farewell, but he seems to lack that understanding. What seems most important right now is winning the 2019 general election.
This is wrong, I think that as time passes our dear Mr Buhari keeps making more errors that would turn against his bid to return to office come 2019.
I pray that our lost sons, daughters, fathers, and mothers who died trying to protect us rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Atiku need to stop being petty, and tell Nigerians what, if elected, he will do for Nigeria and Nigerians.

Did Atiku attended the burial of soldiers and policemen killed in Odi, when he was the vice president of Nigeria? Trying to score cheap political points will do him no good.

The burial of any military personnel in combat or off combat, is a purely military affairs. Major General Harold Greene, was killed in 5th August, 2014, in Afghanistan, by a Taliban soldier.

He was buried at Arlington national cemetery in the US, Obama and Joe Biden, did not attend or grace the burial. The reason why every military personnel are apolitical.
