The Miners Association of Nigeria and China Miners Association have reached an agreement to strengthen the existing bilateral economic relationship between the two bodies.

Alhaji Sani Shehu, the President of MAN, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Abuja.

Shehu said the association and the CMA reached the agreement at the recent Mines and Money Conference held in London.

He said that the two associations drafted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on ways to strengthen the existing bilateral relationship to promote solid minerals trade between both countries.

According to him, some of the issues captured in the agreement are: to prevent a situation whereby members of MAN find it difficult to receive their payment after supplying minerals in China.

He said other issues captured in the agreement were the need to curtail Chinese mining investors falling into the hands of fraudsters in Nigeria and to also share knowledge on exploration, among others.

He said: “Some Chinese mining investors fell into the hands of fraudsters in Nigeria in the years past, while some of our members supplied minerals to some Chinese nationals and they were not paid.

“MAN thought that the way out is for the two associations to come up with an MoU to address these challenges and to also boost our minerals’ trades.

“On the draft MoU, MAN agreed to assist Chinese mining investors that want to invest in Nigeria with necessary documentation while we source for minerals for Chinese nationals that want to buy minerals.”

He said that MAN and CMA had several discussions and inputs on the draft MoU before other aspects were added to the agreement in London.

He added: “The agreement is currently a draft. Hopefully, a MAN delegation will be going to China by April 2019 to sign the MoU.”

And we were heckling Peter Obi for dwelling on China China during the debate. The ties between the two Countries, Nigeria and China, seems deeper than lay men like me and you understand. China is actually recolonizing our space as someone up there said.

How much of the minning proceeds is going into the government coffers at the end of the day? Do you know that 90% of minning activities in Northern Nigeria is privately owned while money from oil exploration in the South is managed by the Federal government. Top Northern politicians work against govt interference in minning of minerals cos it will stop money going into their pockets, hence they are against restructuring. What a country of rubbing Peter to pay Paul.

Another association yearning trash.

The Chinese come to Nigeria, do not pay enough taxes, bring in their own workers, abuse Nigerian workers, and yet, our leaders are in a race to see who can sell Nigeria off first. Smh

That was in the era when stealing was not corruption.
Now, we have a new Sherrif in town.
Let's do buisness.

You don't know anything so just shut your mouth up. What they will end up doing is to use Federal govt resources and to enhance their private minning businesses.

Those behinď the illegal minning are top politicians. Ministers and Senators. All proceeds go into their private pockets. They vehemently object restructuring because they know they will surrender the business to the state govt in the event of restructuring. They prefer the country to remain in limbo as long as no one asks them questions. But the same people do not want those in the South to have any say over the oil that runs in their land. What a shame of a nation!
