One of the 66 sacked staff of Enugu State College of Education Technical, Mr. Nwaekwe Uchenna Kingsley has dragged the college to court.

The case with Suit No. NIC/EN/40/2018; NNAEKWE UCHENNA KINGSLEY v. ESCET is presently pending at the National Industrial Courth, Enugu.

Narrating his ordeal, Mr. Nnaekwe said, "Sometime in March 2015, about 66 of us, both lecturers, admin and technical staff, as well as drivers and clerial officers we were offered appointment at the Enugu State College of Education Technical...

"Almost all of us assumed duty after facing rigorous interview session, by the way there were adverts on national dailies with respect of the job offer, then subsequent application and interviews were done and appointment letters issued.

"Exactly on the 28th of January 2016, the new administration led by Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, approved the termination of our appointment without any laid down rules as the mandatory three months notice in lieu was never given and to compound issue, the termination stated no crime of ours," He pointed.

He further stressed that the termination made him lost a funded Phd study abroad, as well as his sourse of livelihood, without any reason of mine.

“During our employment, we have discharged our academic duties diligently, which included lecturing, invigilating during examinations, marking of quizzes and examinations scripts, and preparation of results, as well as taking active part in June 2015 accreditation exercise.” he said.
