In Lagos, 3rd Mainland Bridge is seen as a master bridge of which both state and federal government don't joke with, once anything happens to the bridge or there is a closure, it affects the whole city.

August 24-28th 2018 will be days Lagosians will not forget in a hurry, these are days the 3rd Mainland Bridge was shut for investigative repair works. These days are hectic for road users where users are left to battle the road with the trailers and tanker drivers.

During these days, a lady discovered a crack at the Eko Bridge of which she raised the alarm on her social media that Eko Bridge may be a danger to all road users soon. This call went round the social media and got the attention of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing of which Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola was the minister. In a tweet by the ministry, they dispel all fears and promised that work will begin soon on the bridge and in fairness, we got a clip where some engineers came to inspect the bridge.

AutoReportNG was at Ijora Olopa earlier this week and we decided to take the bridge and it came as a surprise that the bridge remains the same, no repair, no touch, nothing was done on the bridge despite cries and assurance from the ministry to quickly repair the bridge. The bridge has been turned to a joint where the area boys gathered to drink, smoke and collect their levies.

We did a quick check of this bridge and we noticed that some parts have started to peel off from their joints. This bridge is where the tanker drivers have turned to her garage where they parked their tankers and trailers and this same bridge links Ijora, Apapa, Oyingbo to Island so we can't decide to take the risks.

We appeal to the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to quickly as a matter of urgency repair those parts that are peeling off as soon as possible. We have had an assurance that there is no cause for alarm but the earlier we repair this portion, the better.

Let's blame PDP for this.. for not budgeting money in 2019 to fix this bridge.

Lai Mohammed am i speaking your mind. I still maintain that the reason this administration failed is giving Fashola three powerful ministries that are the economic determinant of any thriving nation to manage.

POWER
WORKS
HOUSING

These 3 ministries are way too big for one man to manage. His bias to prove a point in power has made works and housing suffer and this same thing merry-go-rounds when one ministry is prioritized over another

Another campaign strategy.... Since the current governor is exiting , old projects are not functioning anymore , I guess if he was to continue all this would be history. What a country!!! angry

@ your reportage get k leg oooo. Using past tense for present tense and present tense for past tense. What's happening to nairaland @seun.

Even some topics that makes fp these days are either with wrong headings, wrong spellings, faulty usage of grammaticals and what have you. This is a forum that has gone world over let's all ensure it does not also go the Nigeria way. Thanks.

Their only project now is how to win election.

The only visible achievement of this administration is their ability to reduce the Armed Forces Remembrance Logo (lapel pin) from what it was during GEJ to the current size... grin grin .

Buhari is working.

Why is Fashola suddenly gaining a reputation as a man who only talks and does nothing. He was better than this when he was Lagos stare governor.

Then he had people working for him, his commissioners were probably knowledgeable in their fields. He is currently supervising ministries he has no basic qualifications to handle, so it out of place to expect him to perform. Someone is likely going to tell me his academic background doesn't matter. That's a nonsense talk. How can a man who has no background in science, someone who studied arts subject in secondary school and went to become a lawyer be expected to handle three highly engineering oriented ministry and succeed? I am an engineer by training and I have always known Fasola will fail woefully in those ministries. How will he understand the drawings, how will he comprehend the governing equations? It always baffles me.
Some people often argue that he will have aides to help him, but rather than going through that complex path, why don't we just make any of the competent aides the supervising minister? Why waste so much resources and time in a senseless venture?
Everything in Nigeria must always wear the yoga of politics, reason we can't move forward. We sacrifice merit and competence on the altar of politics and expect to be at the same level with serious minded people.
When they say Nigeria is a joke, Buhari certificatelessness and his choices of ministers highlights that joke.

true talk..but Sir... all over the world people who are not expertise in a particular field sometimes succeeded in managing it but the question is... why is the case of Sub Saharan Africa always different...

he was never better than this as governor , it was all propaganda then , remember this is the same Fashola that despite claiming to have spent 35 billion Naira plus tolls from the Lekki epe road couldn't complete a mere 35km lekki epe road for 8 years, infact he couldn't even complete up to to 10 mins of that road
