The Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, has called on the Federal Government to as a matter of national urgency, resolve the crisis rocking the education sector in the country, particularly as it relates to the current industrial action embarked upon by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
The monarch stated this in a message to Christian faithful in Akure and Nigeria at large on the celebration of this year’s Christmas.
In the message signed by Michael Adeyeye, his Chief Press Secretary, the monarch who prayed for the recovery of the Nigerian economy, advised that the continued stay of the undergraduates at home is unhealthy for the country.

With the 2019 general elections around the corner, he also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to remain focused.


I call on the INEC Chairman to ensure free, fair and credible elections in 2019.

“I also use this opportunity to call on the Federal Government to quickly return to the negotiating table with the Academic Staff Union of Universities and find a lasting solution to the current crisis and incessant strike actions that are crippling the nation’s tertiary education. We cannot afford to continue to pay lip service to education.

This may pose a great danger to our teeming youths if not quickly checked.”

The Akure monarch also commended the efforts of governments both at the Federal and State levels for effort to curb the alarming rate of insecurity in the nation.
