For me I will say is a sin and not a sin

Is a sin if You are addicted to it You let gambling take more of your time you suppose to spend with family or borrow money You suppose to spend on family or personal self. Remember too much of everything Is bad

Not a sin if You gamble for fun. You see any game play it either win or lose it does not disturb your heart or family care

My advice gambling is not worth it if You calculate how much you lost and win a year then You all know how much you would have save if You not gambling. It brings you low, makes you a beggar and dream big that never comes to pass. Stay away from gamble if you can please but if you can’t gamble what You can afford to lose

Sport betting is not a sin, what is a sin is when you allow yourself to be addicted to it. Even Business on its own is a bet that is why it is called Profit and Loose, you either win or loss. Everyday life is a Bet, you either win or you loose. So nothing wrong with sport betting just don't allow it get hold of you or you become addicted but if you can't handle the addiction part just avoid it now before its too late.

There's no way you will have relationship with Jesus without the word. We grow by reading and meditating on his word. I am not limiting the power of the Holy spirit but the Bible which is the compass that guides every Christian should be able to guide us in every aspect of life.

Sport betting is a business source but highly risky ....its pure financial wisdom to invest only what you can afford to lose.

Reason why it becomes a bad venture is that most users invest so much and have high expectations, and when they lose they go extreme to find another capital to invest.

Sport betting requires strategy that fits each individual pockets...you don't have to play it every weekend or everyday..u can play it when all situation puts a team under pressure to win at all cost..

I have more to say..but I will put hand to rest.

Meanwhile ...I made close to N800,000 this year from several winnings..some times I stake on just two teams that are in a must win situations.

Sports betting is a sin to God and even to urself. I'm talking from experience, I was an addict until I start borrowing to play and still loose all. I started having high blood pressure and even reduced in body size. When i Realized it is not helping me, I decide that I will stop and I talk to different person's by revealing how I have been attached to betting and they all talked against it. Now I don't even know it is anymore because I see betting as a greedy man's game.

When you play forex; u bet

When you predict the weather and receive your pay at the end of the month; u bet

When you sow seed of faith in church; u bet.

In all you are expecting an outcome, more being positive to your side.

In Islam, gambling is not considered to be a simple game or frivolous pastime. The Quran often condemns gambling and alcohol together in the same verse, recognizing both as a social disease which is addictive and destroys personal and family lives.
The general teaching in Islam is that all money is to be earned—through one’s own honest labor and thoughtful effort or knowledge. One cannot rely upon “luck” or chance to gain things that one doesn’t deserve to earn. Such schemes only benefit a minority of people, while luring the unsuspecting—often those who can least afford it—to spend great amounts of money on the slim chance of winning more. The practice is deceptive and unlawful in Islam.
“They ask you [Muhammad] concerning wine and gambling. Say: ‘In them is great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than the profit.’… Thus does Allah Make clear to you His Signs, in order that you may consider” (Quran 2:219).
“O you who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, dedication of stones, and divination by arrows, are an abomination of Satan's handwork. Eschew such abomination, that you may prosper” (Quran 5:90).
“Satan's plan is to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from prayer. Will you not then abstain?” (Quran 5:91).

Whether it is a sin or not, Sports betting is killing Nigerians slowly but they are yet to realise it. I know a man who has become a sport betting addict. He is a liability even to himself. Borrows for betting and loses. He has no properties, no salary even though he is paid a comfortable salary. Everything goes to bets and debts!
you said the truth. I know of a lady that funds her account occasionally with over 40k, 50k and so on just to play the virtual bet9ja but she lost all. Her bf broke up with her when he could not take it anymore, this time she lost over 250k in a week........ She earns just 40k monthly

You speak the truth as touching the addiction part but without mincing the truth, you and I know that 90% of betters become addicted gradually.
Addicts can go any length to gather spoils. Even getting involved in spiritism. I heard of a certain mad man who gives correct lotto number. It got so bad that some guys kidnapped him and beat him up till he gives numbers. That is like consulting familiar spirits for the sake of gains and God hates that. Remember the slave-girl with spirit of divination in Acts 16:16.
Leviticus 19:31 says "Do not turn to mediums or consult spiritists, or you will be defiled by them; I am the LORD your God."

The Bible does not specifically condemn gambling, betting, or the lottery. The Bible does warn us, however, to stay away from the love of money (1 Timothy 6:10; Hebrews 13:5). Gambling most definitely is focused on the love of money and undeniably tempts people with the promise of quick and easy riches.

What is wrong with gambling? Gambling is a difficult issue because if it is done in moderation and only on occasion, it is a waste of money, but it is not necessarily evil. People waste money on all sorts of activities. Gambling is no more or less of a waste of money than seeing a movie (in many cases), eating an unnecessarily expensive meal, or purchasing a worthless item. Excess money should be saved for future needs or given to the Lord's work, not gambled away.

Can lotto/lottery proceeds please God? Many people claim to be playing the lottery or gambling so that they can give the money to the church or to some other good cause. While this may be a good motive, reality is that few use gambling winnings for godly purposes. Studies show that the vast majority of lottery winners are in an even worse financial situation a few years after winning a jackpot than they were before. Few, if any, truly give the money to a good cause. Further, God does not need our money to fund His mission in the world. Proverbs 13:11 says, “Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.” God is sovereign and will provide for the needs of the church through honest means. Would God be honored by receiving donated drug money or money stolen in a bank robbery? Of course not. Neither does God need or want money that was “stolen” from the poor in the temptation for riches.

Tho a member won over 40 million Naira some months ago here, but that doesn't happen everyday.

Whether we want to believe it or not, not everyone that plays bet is addicted at least i know a few that plays with discretion, they are not addicts. So that supports my initial post, you can go back and read it again.

There is no sin woth sport betting... its all gambling... they fall under lottery and gambling. But pastors win US and UK lottery and travel out. So why is it not a sin for them. Let us stop making unnecessary assumptions. Its not illegal so its not a sin
