Tinubu Cautions Against Turning Nigeria Into One Party-state, Brands Pdp; Poverty Development Party. by kaiosama(m): 11:21am On Aug 08, 2010
Former lagos state governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has vowed not allow the country to slip into a one party state, speaking at the presidential wing of the murtala Muhammed international airport in lagos on his arrival from an overseas trip, Tinubu accused the PDP-led federal government of showing little commitment to taking the country to a greater height 11 years after taking hold of the reins of power. He wondered why the government abandoned governance for trivial issues such as zoning and who is running for what political office. He also slammed the national assembly for taking away the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commision{INEC} by passing a legislation on the order of elections. His words; "we will not allow this country to become a one-party state. I don't want to talk about jonathan running, or sitting down or broken ankle. That is their problem, that is the problem of PDP. We are looking at a country that is stable and progressing and we want to work hard as the opposition party to wrest power from this POVERTY DEVELOPMENT PARTY {PDP}, that has not done any Nigerian any good. They have drifted completely from government. It is now all about zoning and running, they have personalised Nigeria. Poverty is on the line, unemployment is rife among our youths. 50 years after our independence, we are still talking about our potentials and not the reality, the progress that a nation is making," he said.
