The National Adviser ( South West ) , Buhari / Osinbajo National Support Committee , Dr Olusegun Osinkolu , has urged Nigerians to consider merit over emotions in the forthcoming general elections in a bid to reshape the country .

Osinkolu said President Muhammadu Buhari , who is the All Progressives Congress ’ presidential candidate , had in the last three and half years demonstrated competence , dedication and patriotism.

He urged citizens to take decisions that would favour the country by re -electing Buhari .
The APC chieftain , in his New Year message to Nigerians made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday , said , “Nigerians should forget emotions and elect a President based on performance and commitment to rid the country of the cankerworm of corruption that has become the Nigeria ’ s greatest albatross .

“Nigerians should be full of hope as we approach the elections because the APC - led Federal Government has taken steps to reinvigorate our economy and the dividends are gradually manifesting in every facet of the country ’s growth .

“But for this development to really manifest, Nigerians should re -elect President Buhari . That is where our hope lies .
“In the 1999 , 2003, 2007 and 2011 general elections , Nigerians voted with emotions and they ended up gaining nothing from such a misadventure.

“But when they shed the toga of sectionalism and voted for merit rather than mediocrity in 2015 , the signs are beginning to show that we are moving up .”

Osinkolu said the country ’s economic progress and political emancipation would be reversed by 20 years if the Peoples Democratic Party returned
