Ethical Issues Bothering On Medical Negligence by chigbolu: 5:48pm On Jan 03, 2019 |
There has been a rapid increase in cases of medical negligence especially on accident victims and victims of assault and battery as well as emergency cases needing first aid care CPR and severe bleeding/hemorrhage. My question is why do medical personnel request for exorbitant sums or police reports as well as other legal documents before treatment of an emergency case, why is it that the first rule to save life is neglected. They may argue that most times such victims are usually financially incapacitated or are not registered to the hospital, but such argument should not suffice when one's life is in danger. Why are medical practitioners in Nigeria neglecting the call to save lives especially of emergency victims, what then is their relevance in society if the common man cannot survive from a stab wound, hindered breathing and other minor injuries that could have been curtailed before they became severe. Why the involuntary manslaughter?.... 2 Likes

The medical negligence of some doctors in Nigeria is appalling. I just returned from the hospital where the doctor refused to attend to a sick friend because she asked for an "explanation" for her prescription. In his words, seeking an explanation is an indication that his job is being questioned. That he doesn't know his job. She further stated that she wasn't satisfied with the prescription because she hadn't even finished her complaints before some gibberish was written down. Infact she hadn't even stated what took her there, she was only trying to brief him on her medical historyand yet he already had his prescription ready. Lets not even talk about the lackadaisical attitude. The "talk and get out" attitude. Just sickens me. I just tire for this country. |
