Rededicate yourselves to work, Ondo workers urged

Workers in the employ of Ondo State Government have been charged to rededicate themselves for effective service delivery in 2019.

The State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu stated this at the annual first work day prayer meeting with the public servants held at the Governor’s office in Akure.

The Governor who described the robust support and cooperation he received from civil servants in the state since he assumed office as very encouraging, assured that their welfare would always remain his administration’s top priority.

While stressing that he is ready to bear with the burden of leadership, he assured of his readiness to continue re-engineering the civil service for more commitment and optimal service delivery.

Akeredolu further hinted that the present administration is determined to improve on the infrastructural development recorded last year, adding that he would balance its obligations with the people and workers despite the lean resources.

“When we came on board, I did promise that we will not owe workers their salaries and till date, we are not owing. We are seriously committed to it as we would also not deny you your rights.

“l want to sincerely thank the bureaucracy for their cooperation without which government could not have recorded meaningful success.

“Life is a passing phase; let’s strive to leave a commendable footprints in the sand of time. Let’s work together for the development of Ondo State, it belongs to all of us, let’s jointly take it to another level through a renewed commitment and dedication to service”, he said.

Akeredolu also commended the efforts of security agents in the state for their determination to wipe out criminals who have turned the state’s forest reserves to kidnapping zones and urged the people not to panic as efforts are ongoing to address all security challenges.

“The Military have combed forest reserves in the affected areas of Akure, Akoko and Owo highways while the Police have constantly patrol those areas towards ensuring that activities of kidnappers are nipped in the bud.

In his sermon titled, ‘Making a Difference’, General Overseer, Agape Christian Assembly, Bishop Felix Adejumo, advocated for the total re-engineering of the workforce for optimal performance and expressed hope of progress, blessings and increase in the New Year.

Adejumo encouraged top government functionaries to invest in human capacity to add more values to the society and enjoined public servants to always exhibit right attitude to work for the rapid acceleration of government’s move to transform the state.

Earlier, the state Head of Service, Barr Toyin Akinkuotu thanked the Akeredolu-led administration for prioritising workers’ welfare through regular payment of salaries including the backlog owed workers by the last administration.

The meeting featured prayers for the Governor, his Exco members, the State and workers by clergymen led by the State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend John Oladapo.
