I need ur advise , my engineer gave me an estimate of 350 bags of cement as the bag required to plaster and decorate windows of my 5 bedroom duplex and he’s also charging 1.3M for labor cost ......... Please advise because I think is too much

Too expensive. Time to change your Engineer. If your property is in Lagos or Benin, I can recommend someone to you.

Its more than Three much oga, I did same with 220k for plastering both inside and outside of the building, including the windows hoods as well. The guy did a perfect job for me.

You probably told him you're living in US, Europe or Canada, so he is charging you in Dollars. .


Abeg go to Nigeria and choose local masons. Your costs will drastically reduce. Your so-called engineer will use the cheapest of the same local masons to do the job. It's not like he will do it himself.

1 million out of that N1.3m cost will go inside his own pocket.

The real workers are not on Nairaland.

The property is in Owerri, Imo state

Hehehehe....Am in Nigeria here ooo anyway i have made up my mind not to use him again.....Funny enough as a novice i priced him 700k .....Thanks so much my people

if its in the east (se & ss), i would visit the site and give you a free quotation. Labour is usually around 200k and they would do a nice job. You can see some of our works by clicking on our profile.

We did this project in Lagos comprising 3 units of 2bedroom Flat and 1 unit of 3bedroom Flat with 195 Bags of Cement for the Inner and Outer Walls, workmanship was 600k.

oga! negotiate with your engineer and give him the job, the bunch of crack heads here just want you to take the job away from your engineer and if you give them the job they can't deliver 100%. I would have adviced you differently if you are just starting with him, but you have been giving all the money he asked for at the various level, so why do you think he's cheating you now.. abeg! just allow am cheat you finish, perhaps the house is almost complete

I advice u stick to ur Engr. And negotiate with him. All this guys telling u 200k to 300k will finish the job are not sincere with u. They will frustrate u at last. With a proper supervision, I believe that 700k u negotiate for labour is not bad.
