HERE IN LAGOS

The challenges we face in Lagos is unknown to many people.

No thanks to the present Government.

Aside, the menace of Daily Traffic, you can't estimate your journey in Lagos. It not a place you leave home and be sure you will get to your destination at a particular time.

Unfortunately, commuters in Lagos are subject to humiliation, and emotional fraud.
You leave home with little to hustle for what to eat for the day only for you to realise the fare has been exorbitantly increased for no reason. Funnily, you can't complain because everyone will be left with no choice. While you are contemplating on the amount charged, if u wait further, you will be surprised another bus will come with higher fare.

The level of insecurity.
Here in Lagos, you need to be watchful, careful and thoughtful.
You can be robbed any time and any where. You could be robbed in broad daylight.

You can leave your home happily in the morning and return with none of your valuables. Even while waiting for bus, you might have lost your phone unknowingly. To cross the pedestrian bridge, you might have to look right and left than facing where you are going.

Here in Lagos, A tout is more respected than a graduate. Why won't it be so? Their political affiliation is at par.

Workers in Lagos,
In Lagos, you will surprised to know that an average worker in local government doesn't get minimum wage. Remove transportation from what you earn, you will be left with no choice than to send your kids to public schools.

Here In Lagos, the difference between the social class is apparently wide.
Some people earn the benefit of the stress of others. The rich grow richer while the workers remain poorer. You can check salary scheme.

Here in Lagos, there is no regard for anyone. What do you expect in a state where thugs are being empowered?

Every time I travel outside Lagos, tears drop when I remember I have to come. back. On getting to the airport. You start facing unprecedented challenges.

No thanks to the security agencies in Lagos. The law is peculiar to the bourgeoisie's. People are exchanged for crimes they know nothing about.

The lawlessness in Lagos is appalling. Everyone does what he likes, because one can always be set free when you know the big men.

If you know the cost of *HOUSING IN LAGOS* it will leave you kind to anyone who reside here. House owners place their burden on poor tenants and subject them to unfriendly atmosphere. It either you can't afford the house that is habitable or you can't stay in the one you can afford.
Yet everyone is a worker in Lagos

Health Hazard.
Where we stay isn't clean. We step on waste and pass between waste. Isn't that a menacing factor to our health?

Go to factories and see the pitiable conditions youths are being used. They work without having control of their own destiny yet lose what they have laboured for with the slightest mistake.

What about injustice? A woman killed her husband in my neighborhood and was released less than a month. Just like we knew. Everyone said she is beautiful and that is an added advantage to her. She has been released.

Have you seen the pension scheme of politicians in Lagos? It half of the budget of the state.

Yet, LAGOS is undoubtedly a blessed city with mammoth resources both natural and human.

Consequently, this is where we found ourselves.

Among the states in Nigeria, you can't in a one way or the other deny affiliation with Lagos, if not for business establishment, it would be for the ambience of some developmental projects. it could be for the large market, international airport or sea port.

Lagos is a place that has many things some states in Nigeria don't have. Perhaps, it even richer in terms of resources than one or two Geo political zones.

But this is where we have found ourselves.

I call on the government to come to the aid of the masses. We are poor, helpless and have to survive in a state that has the shortest life span in Nigeria.

Mayhap, Jakande once ruled a Lagos that worked for everyone.

Akanji writes from Alagbado.
