Fashola Commissions New Magistrates’ Court Building by Kennyblues(m): 3:24pm On Aug 11, 2010
The Governor of Lagos State, South – West Nigeria, Babatunde Fashola,( SAN) this morning commissioned the 22-court room state of art Magistrates’s Court building in Igosere.

Present at the occasion were the Deputy Governor, Mrs.Sara Sosan, Chief Judge of Lagos State Justice Inumidun Akande, Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu,former chief justices of the state, judges and magistrates.

In his speech, Governor Fashola gave credit to former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the former attorney general of Lagos state, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo for conceiving reforms that gave birth to improved infrastructural, procedural and welfare development in the judiciary.

He also acknowledged the effort of the AG, officials of the Ministry of Works and every other persons who contributed to the timely completion of the building

Gov Fashola reiterated his commitment to the effective and effecient dispensation of justice in the state
and said the 22-courtroom building is only one of nine other magistrates’s court building projects across the state.

According to the governor,  similar projects going on in the state include 6 court room building in Ikorodu, same in Epe, 22-court room building in Ogba, 6 in Ikeja, 22 in Ajegunle, 6 in Badagry, 22 in Igando, 22 in Mushin and 22 in Alimosho.

He said that upon completion of the courtrooms, the entire project would have been the largest single infrastructural intervention in the justice sector in nigeria.

He added that with the new infrastructure, magistrates will now sit on Saturdays to cope with the increasing number of cases in the state.

The Chief Judge  Justice Akande thanked the governor for the building and assured him that magistrates will put the building to best use to ensure an improved justice delivery in the state.
